Toyota and Subaru working together. Confirmed for 2011
i want to see pics now :D
As a rule I don't trust autoweek but that would be awesome, and this isn't the first time I've heard this rumor so who knows.
i dont see it happening... especially not in rwd format if its under the subaru badge
The article says it will be a Toyota with a Subaru engine.
thats retarded lol
I heard Mazda is sharing design ideas with Subaru....
if I'm not mistaken... There has been talk between subaru and a lot of other names... This one however is the one I know/have seen most about.
i cant copy and paste it because its a pdf, but this is true i work at a subaru dealership and today on subarunet it says that fhi(fuji) will be making a rwd sports car with TMC(toyota) in 2011. The car will be produced at the fhi plant currently where the subaru engines and transmissions are made.
expected considering GM has their dick in everyones Cheerios in Japan...
don't care for this idea personally. Toyota can do and has done just fine on their own
There are some pics that someone found in a different article here http://www.newcelica.org/forums/showthread.php?t=273998

i read about this multiple times over the past few months, it must be true, as weird as it sounds. if i were toyota and wanted to make a rwd sports car with another company, subaur wouldnt be it. but thats just me.
im under the assumption subie's version would at least offer an awd model? and if toyota did the same would it then be so scray to see the return of the celica GT four? id see this as the next celica BEFORE they badged it a supra. but thats just me. ive seen rumors of the return of a supra like spoirts car and its not a boxer. the rumor was v6 AND v8 power and huge price tag. this car seems to be gettin boxers and a smaller price tag, less supercar, more econo sports. maybe this is an answer back to hyundais new rwd coupe? if it is, lets hope other comps join the bus |
in the hell
2A RWD car with a boxer engine? Doesn't Porsche already do that?
And if you didn't know, Subaru builds Camry's in one of its US plants. |
I've read a couple versions of basically this same info too... and it just seems ass backwards to put the subaru power plant in the thing... The boxer is not exactly the best in terms of peformance...much less the fact it seems like engines such as the one from the Supra will take lots more HP and boost before going boom. I dunno... interesting to see what happens either way.
they better not try and pass this off as a supra. cuz if they do, they will receive an angry letter from yours truly.
