Diesel options...

I currently have a 2004 F250 with the 5.4L gas engine that I use for towing, occasional wheeling, and delivering. I am thinking of replacing with a diesel truck to get better gas mileage, especially when towing. I am not sure if I am going to go used or new. Out of the big three, which diesel do you feel is best?

I really like the Duramax diesel but that mostly is because I am a Chevy fan mostly. I think they are real good engines. I heard the Allison trans though isn't the greatest, but others have said it was great. Heard the best trans is coming from the Dodge camp. So that is basically my opinion. No matter what you buy though they are all great choices, i would prefer Chevy though.

I am a fan off all Diesels but I would have to go for the New 6.0 Ford. It's showing to be a very strong and easy to modify engine. Pretty much all these trucks are going to be even and take well to mods. I have heard that the Allison transmission is very good. I think you would be happy with whatever you choose.

Then again getting a used 7.3L Ford might also be a good idea. These trucks have been around for a while and not many problems with em. Also I got smoked by one a while back. It had intake, exhaust, a chip, some other stuff, and a 100 shot. I talked to the guy for a while and have loved desiel trucks ever since.
