Phillies 2008 Official Thread

So...................................

The Phillies kick off the season opener tonight.

What are your thoughts about moves during the off season and spring training? I'm a little cocerned Arron Rowand isn't around anymore as he was pretty clutch for the Phillies.

Im just going to watch the game when I get home.

doug 03-31-2008 10:54 AM

The game is at 3.. it's opening day. Opening night is Wednesday.

I'll be there, hopefully this rain stops so they can get the game in.

I went to the game on saturday...dollar dog day, i ended up buying like 12 throughout the game....i don't even know what i would have spent if it was a normal night. They looked pretty good for the first 5 innings then they pulled all the starters

I don't follow the Phills as much as I used to when I played baseball (entirety of my school life). I still love to go watch the games and have been to CB Park only a few times. We should get a bunch of us together and head out to the Park for a meet. We could prob even tailgate or at least chill in the lot before-hand. I don't mind taking the Camaro to that lot, just not in the bad parts of the city :) I checked with the stadium and I can bring my camera and massive lens, so I'm happy.

Tailgate parties FTW! :supz: :partyman:

Philly is gonna be a big contender this year, but the Mets and Braves are pretty well stacked again too. NL East as a whole is gonna be a great division to watch.

doug 03-31-2008 12:43 PM

I'm leaving soon.. the rain has squashed my tailgate plans.. but no big.. big game today for sure.

Anyone going wednesday night? I plan on being there and would be down for a little meet before.

lownslow95 03-31-2008 01:26 PM

I wish I were going. :(

Well, if they are healthy and they hit likethey did last year, and their starting pitchers are a little better than last year, they should be in the world series no question. Howard will have a monster year and pat the bat burrel too because its contract years for both of them. GO PHILS!

BradC 03-31-2008 02:32 PM

I'll be there Thursday for the day game, if anyone wants to chill and tailgate

ToyotaTat 03-31-2008 03:03 PM

problem is they are in the same division as the Mets and the Braves, both of which are teams not to sleep on. They will have to face both Pedro Martinez, who is as healthy as ever, and Johan Santana, who is a monster on the mound.

Then add in the consistant hitting of Atlanta, and their pitching staff as well. I wouldnt gaurentee a World Series visit yet.

ToyotaTat 03-31-2008 03:27 PM

i wouldn't guaruntee a world series yet mainly because it's only the first game of the season, although we are winning 1-0

Jeffros Spec V 03-31-2008 04:58 PM

2-0 last I heard.

ToyotaTat 03-31-2008 05:20 PM

6-6, rollins just hit a 2run homer to center, now top of the 8th

ToyotaTat 03-31-2008 05:50 PM

tom gordon is piece of crap, 4 runs in the 9th is uncalled for

turbo4g63 03-31-2008 05:50 PM

Chalk another loss up to Tom Gordon....i can't believe they kept him on the roster. I hated him last year, and now he's blown the home opener for the season. He effing sucks.

The Captain 03-31-2008 05:51 PM

flash gordon...you sir, suck.
