25 second search limit... annoying as hellll
 

Any way we could change this? Im constantly doing searches, and its really annoying to have to wait 25 seconds between each one.

The worst is when I click "new posts," and accidentally double click. Then I dont even get to see the search results, and still have to wait 25 seconds!

Just a suggestion... I can deal with it if its a pain to change. :-p:)

And if this was taken away bots could just spam it and bog down the database so much that no one could even log on.

Is that the purpose of the search limit? I wasnt sure what purpose it served.

Its a forum, as the forums grows... youre gonna get bots. Whether you leave the search limit or not, bots are just something that a forum has to deal with. The more hits the site gets... the more bots.

For a relatively small forum like this one, I feel like the bots could be eliminated one by one by the mods, and removing the search limit wouldnt allow that many more in, and would make the site much more pleasureable to navigate.

That limit is there to alleviate the stress on our servers. The bandwidth on this site is incredible, and this is necessary. It may be possible for you to PM TROLL and ask him to consider including that feature in a paid membership account though?

Running a database query is way way more load on a database than just browsing the forum because it has to parse everything. There are already a ton of people on the website and it probably tones it down a good bit as it is to keep it acceptable in terms of loading speed.

I get annoyed by the search limit too but it is a necessary evil to keep up standard browsing speed.

Id be totally down for that. If it was a feature that came with the supporting member thing... id send my paypal today.

If it's necessary, I can deal. But I agree, it is waaaaaaay annoying, and I search a lot.

why not just become a supporting member anyway...this site already uses alot of bandwidth and its so cheap

Hey guys, trust me the site with all the people on it is an insane amount. As mentioned before the site has this to help with bots bogging down the server. I don't believe we can change the search time between user groups as its a sitewide setting. I may be wrong on that. I agree yes it is very annoying but it is needed. I apologize and if there is a new way to possibly accomodate this I'm sure me and troll will get it.

oh well its its needed then its all good. i thought it was a setting just to piss ppl of haha.

Do forums without a search wait have better servers? i can think of countless sites that do not have a search time limit that have much more traffic than this site.
