First time shooting a car with my camera

....and I overexposed all of them :(. Oh well, I learned what I did wrong and I won't make the same mistake again. However, a couple shots turned out okay, and I wanted some C&C on my pictures so that I can get better.

I only adjusted curves and did a resize. No cropping and no crazy editing, I just wanted to throw them up. I will do better edits later.

Again, C&C are welcome.

i like'm and photoshop can fix over exposed pics.

#5 would look badass if it was with a wide angle lens but it looks real good none the less.

if you shoot in raw, it really doesnt matter if you over exposed them. they dont look bad at all. the interior shots are nice. the first pic i would have moved the car more forward so the wall isnt growing out of the car.

Love the quarters in pic #3 :)

CleanNeon98 01-19-2008 10:32 PM

#3 is my favorite

Not bad at all - I've found shooting white cars is ALWAYS the hardest thing to do especially with any amount of ambient lighting. In any event those look great!

looks good dude what camera did u shoot with?

in #1 i think the subject(car) needs to be farther away from the wall to create some dof. other than that i think the shots are pretty good for first time car shots

C&C - there is a Civic in the way..............lulz, j/k. not too bad man, try different angles with your car. cars tend to have different angles that they look good in..........try em all, pick the best. digital is free.

Are these taken behind Borderline?

namdoogwerdna 01-20-2008 12:11 PM

Haha yeah, I used to work at the toy store that was attached to it so I knew it was a half decent spot.

djb5118 01-20-2008 12:20 PM

i used to skate there a lot in my younger days haha

YellowMSP 01-20-2008 01:28 PM

pics look good man...lets do another shoot sometime

Andrew, these look pretty good, so I will nitpick :) In #1 I would have moved the car (as someone mentioned) so that the wall isn't "coming out" of the roof. On #3, I would have removed that fancy red air freshener and the quarters in the coin slot. I would have also removed the air freshener in #5. Other than that, you did a decent job!

I used to skate at borderline all the time like 4 years ago haha

Not bad at all for your first time. I would recommend shooting in RAW for post processing reasons and shooting cars with a circular polarizer can help a lot also.

Random question: is that an OEM steering wheel with a Vinyl over the emblem or is that a JDM steering wheel?

namdoogwerdna 01-20-2008 06:54 PM

It's the OEM wheel with the vinyl. The JDM one has MOMO stamped on the bottom and the stitching is a little different. I had the JDM one but I didn't want to mess with all the airbag stuff so I sold it.

Thanks Rich, I will definitely be more weary of where I place the car and what I leave in it now. I might give it another go tomorrow before I head back to school.
