bill of sale

anyone ever buy anything with just a bill of sale? no title. i might pick up this quad i found, but the guy says he doesnt have the title and will give me a bill of sale with it. He sid that the title was lost in a house fire from the person that he bought it from. Priceis low, but it doesnt run(which is actually what i was looking for).

Check with your Notary. Bill of sale is cool from certain states like Alabama, Connecticut, and probably a few others.

bill of sale is good.....if under certain terms.

If you buy the quad with just a bill of sale (I have done so....twice), and the title is clean, you are fine. If the title is not clean (some states don't even have "paper" titles for ATV's, and require no registration), and the quad that you just bought was actually stolen, the quad can be confiscated by police and you are out your money.

Get the VIN and have your local police run the number. If it shows up stolen...duh.

this almost happened to me, i bought a quad with a bill of sale. got in trouble with the police one to many times, they confiscated it, and wanted the title as proof to pick it up, told them i only had a bill of sale. they searched and searched to see if it was stolen, and thank god it wasnt. i got it back.
