i wish i had 300whp...
do you have a very large turbo? it would seem so by the looks of your curves... and is it tuned well? also, why does it peak, then dip a bit, then rise up some more? just an intersting looking curve so i dont know wht to make of it.

yeah its a large turbo
its got all those dips to make it look cool... j/p
its tune by one of the best honda tuners in the US

it spools rather late.. and torque drops because it just does when u rev a car out

Blaise 08-16-2005 03:09 PM

300whp is useless when it takes 5 seconds in each gear (literally) to spool.

I'd like to drive the car again with an 8000-8500rpm redline. Please tell me it's at least that high...

i hate you blaise

TehWagon 08-16-2005 03:47 PM

well, spool or not, i'm impressed!

97TSi 08-16-2005 03:52 PM

Awesome numbers man. Most honda dynos I see are something akin to 350whp and 190ft-lbs ;) I'm sure she scoots pretty damn well.

turbo specs? head work?

sisforsurfing 08-16-2005 03:52 PM

Yeah, good numbers, but it would be really nice if you could rev it out a little more... i'm sure that turbo would keep pushing if the engine could take it. Nonetheless, faster than much of what you'll encounter, good job.

I wonder if it would be faster with a smaller turbo, less power, but a broader band.

TROLL 08-16-2005 03:55 PM

i'm talking about 5250 to 6250... normally torque and hp curves are relatively smooth... they go up, and then they go down. yours goes up, goes down a little bit, then goes back up, then back down. its just strange to have two peaks in your curve so i dont understand that.
at 4000 rpm you're making about 140 ft. lbs.... you hit 200 ft. lbs. at 4750... i dont know what your turbo setup is or anything at all really, but it just seems like a crazy amount of lag in order to attain 300 to the wheels max.
if im' out of my element then let me know, but it just doesnt make a lot of sense to me.

edit: just noticed the graphs say flywheel torque and flywheel power? thats not right is it?

S4toSTI 08-16-2005 04:23 PM

on the first graph it appears the torque is just leveling out but on the detailed it looks like it atually jumps again that is weird maybe the plot is off. All i have to say is i would not wanna meet this car from a roll on the highway when he is at 4.5k.

LSHatch 08-16-2005 05:01 PM

Awesome torque numbers.

Who cares where the power comes on it? He can downshift.

its SAE corrected wheel HP
i don't understand new zealanders and theid dynapacks lol

i think the reason this happens is....
vtec and low boost give power... then vtec doesn't do much then more boost kicks in..
thats my theory

2point4DSM 08-16-2005 06:00 PM

The first dip is where the first set of cams maxes out.

300whp is awesome! But are you sure it is whp? Corrected? How and for what?

Yes, but as of last time (I've driven it, you haven't) no matter how much you downshifted the power came on so late that by the time you were scooting you had to shift and wait for the boost again.

I really really really hope that this is fixed. And that James lets me drive it again ;)

Raven18940 08-17-2005 04:21 AM

Where is this awesome torque you speak of? And what size engine is this? Are you going for more power or is this it?

TROLL 08-17-2005 07:14 AM

cool i just didnt know how ti interpret the graph... your car is fast and its clean which makes it excellent in my book.

The problem is you need to drive like a DSMr. Right off the bat, slip the clutch or spin the tires till boost comes on. Then with a big turbo you got to shift really high to keep it spooled. And when you shift you got to keep the gas pedal floored. Don't worry, the rev limiter won't let the motor over-rev. Then shift fast.

That's the trick, guys. :)

97TSi 08-17-2005 09:18 AM

blah, blah, blah, turbo doesn't spool till 5k, blah, blah, blah, who gives a ****.
People are such babies. I'd drive it.

damn you reminded me.. i forgot to ask for 2-step (build boost off the line)
and maybe a rev limit on the ecu :o
