$251 dollars for 13 gallons of Propane? Possible rip off?
 

My friends mom has a 13 gallon tank outside for a Propane running fireplace in the house. Well a company came out today and filled the tank for $251 dollars? Does that sound right guys? That would be close to $20 dollars a gallon? Last I checked it didn't cost me anywhere that much for fill a BBQ tank?

Off the top of my head, i thought a new tank of propane goes for 19.99

I'm not sure how big (gallon wise) a BBQ tank is but its like 12-15 to fill and about 20 for a new one.

Only explanation I can think of is that it's possibly lab grade propane. BBQ propane has other stuff mixed into it which might not be the best thing to burn in your home, but it's only a hunch. Still sounds like highway robbery.

As of 11/12, the cost for residential propane is $2.406/gallon.

There are alot of things, the company is probably picking it up cheap than turning around to make a buck off it. But i do know homes that use gas heat are more expensive to run.

I have a 1,000 gallon oil tank in my front yard....can I get it filled for $700??:lol:

My best investment- a woodstove. Free firewood is all over Craigslist. A little bit of effort saves $$$$thousands$$$$.

i have a propane tank that holds atleast 200 hundred gallons and only paid 300. i think they ripped you off.

Most of the homes in my 'hood were built in the '40s, and almost every one of them has a 1,000 gallon tank buried in the yard. We only used 50 gallons of oil last year, so I'm considering getting a 250 gallon above ground tank with a pump head so I can fill it with biofuel and fuel my work van with it also.

I only have 250 gallons left and I'm going to run it dry. At that point I'm removing the tank for the smaller above ground tank.

The tank has been down there for 60ish years. When I dig it out...it gonna be a night time event. I don't want the township/EPA seeing anything.
