My WRX's Special Feature

Hey guys, I thought you might enjoy this. My WRX was the 18th one ever built in 2000 (model 2002.) It was the 3rd in the country and when it got here, Subaru held on to it for a while. It was featured in the 2001 Subaru WRX TV commercial that can be viewed here. It doesnt quite look the same anymore, but its cool to say its mine .

Another little funfact, the commercial was filmed in the town my Dad was born in in California. When I bought the car it came with a certificate signed by the Director of Advertising for Subaru Of America confiming my car was the one used in the commercial and where the commercial was filmed. Im actually good friends with the driver of the car in the commercial, who also happens to be who I bought the car from, who also happens to work for SOA.

Now heres for the pics!

Nice. Might be worth a bit if you keep it in tip top.

trex616 10-03-2007 08:40 PM

Yeah, it has the lowest miles of any registered 02 WRX in the country right now. 1,254. So Id imagine it will be worth something decent, someday. But the way I see it is, this car was meant to driven, and thats what Im going to do. Ive taken a lot of crap, people say it belongs in a museam yada yada yada. Nah, not for me, this car belongs on the road (or track.) But no doubt, Ill take care of it, and I see myself keeping it for a LONG time.

Oh and that certificate is getting framed and hung on my wall.

im too lazy to put the dvd in but i believe that is the commercial that was directed by zack snyder, who directed dawn of the dead, who used that commercial in the movie (its playing on the tv in the beginning of the movie when its interrupted by an emergency message) ....

i'll look later, but thats pretty sweet if it is, then your car was in a movie :)

edit; sorry to get your hopes up, but it was the 04 commercial :(

trex616 10-03-2007 08:43 PM

Wow no way! Ive never heard that before. I hope like hell your right! Keep me posted, if it is, Im buying the DVD tomorrow.

Wooo sorry for the huge pics, resizing now.

I gotta say Im actually quite flattered you caled BS, haha. But if you want, take a look at my garage to see the list of parts. Im sorry to inform you that this car, in its current form, is MUCH more rare then yours. Most of the STi parts its made of were never offered in the US, some were never offered to the public at all.
Although, I will say, Ive always loved the STi Limiteds, gorgeous car my friend.

lownslow95 10-03-2007 09:46 PM

wow, you probably have one of the rarest cars on tri state. hold on to that, it will be worth something some day. pics will be called for later on.

trex616 10-03-2007 09:50 PM

Thanks man. I definitly will. I know its cliche, but I dont ever see myself getting rid of this car. Ill sell my house, drop out of college, move to Mexico, anything to keep this car.

Sincere 10-03-2007 09:52 PM

Wanna sell it to me? I'm a collector.

trex616 10-03-2007 09:53 PM

Sure, find me #17 .

Sincere 10-03-2007 09:56 PM

If you don't mind, how much did this piece of history cost you?

trex616 10-03-2007 10:00 PM

Well I bought it off of a friend of mine that works for SOA. Lets just say I believe he got it for damn near nothing, so he cut me an amazing deal. It was actually a gift for his wife (she races) but due to a terribly unfortunate injury she was never able to drive it, and it came time for the car to move on. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Lets just say if you take the bluebook, and you add up the cost of all the parts on the car in US Dollars, not includeing the ones that were never for sale, I got it for about half that.

Sincere 10-03-2007 10:03 PM

I have not even a clue where that pits it but sounds like a great deal. Please take car if it.

trex616 10-03-2007 10:21 PM

I absolutly will.

malloyboy1 10-03-2007 10:36 PM

wow, i wouldnt drive it that much either. just keep it in the family and keep passing it on and on

malloyboy1 10-03-2007 10:38 PM

btw how do you go about getting info like that, i would be interested to know more about my car. i know its not as cool as yours but id still like to know
