Computer vs Me..
So, i ordered a Seagate Barricuda from tigerdirect.com recently, and to make a long story short, got it installed, BIOS check, and its telling me....Boot Sector Virus.
So now its time to call them, and complain some more to them, and see what they are willing to do. This is also on top of everything else that seemingly is going wrong w/ my electronics. /rant. |

Building a computer is stupid easy. The first time I put one together I was ready for a challenge but then 5 minutes into it I was like "wtf, is this it?". Its near impossible to put it together incorrectly... I only say near because I have no doubt there is an exception.

yeah, you can't really mess anything up when putting a computer together. each thing only fits into the spot its supposed to fit into, lol

Thanks 05GT its running but my boot legged vista cd is takin a **** and has a scratch on it
anyone able to help me out at this time of night? |
Ok dude... at what point did this message come up.. if you were installing windows at the time or doing anything that could modify how the unit boots then thats perfectly normal...
most bios's support boot sector virus protection so that a virus cant touch that section of the hard drive.. however the bios cant tell if its a virus or a legit program trying to install a loader and that happens when you install any windows or any other operating system... what you can do is go in the bios and turn off the virus protection and install the os.. in the case that you got it refurbished it should be wiped out anyway so i dunno its possible you got one with a virus but its no big deal... put it in and wipe the drive with boot and nuke... or just install windows like i said before and that will overwrite any virus's.. its probably nothing dude |

Ok heres an example a customer of mine had a dual core extreme edition with 4 gb ram.. the pc was about 5 - 10 k in parts alone... he pluged the front pannel wires onto the usb headers on the mobo.. stupid crap like that people screw up.. i had another guy who didnt use any risers on the case and he just screwed the motherboard to the metal pannel.. it fried like crazy... another guy installed a sempron wrong and pins were stuck out of the zif socket... smokey fun ... computers are easy if your not an idiot |

I think the best Ive heard so far from APC is when people plug their UPS into itself. Or not plug in the battery. |
Saying that buliding a computer is easy is not always true. There can be things that people don't know, as mentioned above. Plus, some people just feel more comfortable knowing its being done right by someone who definitly knows what they are doing rather then taking the chance of doing it right.
I had a guy put vaseline on his CPU as the heat sink paste LMAO. Needless to say that processor didn't last too long. |
eh.... it really depends on if they actually read the manual (i actually do for the case connections), so that it is done right.
but yea, I understand its something that not everyone is comfortable with, and at times, it can get tough. Its just connecting everything inside it seems like way too easy now |
lol just to let all you know i was not that guy
but yeah i would of probably put in the mobo like the guy mentioned above and fried the piss out of it but instead 05gt hooked it up and i jus had to do the easy stuff lol only **** i got figure out now is how to install the zalman fan that came in today and await on vista to come in |
Vista shouldnt be hard to do, but why Vista is something I must ask.
XP Pro w/ SP2 - waiting to get SP3 when i get the tower running as well. |
