apparently one of the turns was too close to the main street so they scrapped it

mr_eh 09-13-2007 10:00 AM

you sure about that? i heard they were taking registrations for days

for anyone that has seen the configuration, it looks dangerous IMO.
it appears to be a suitable golfcart path and/or service road to me.

You don't have updated news people. They fixxed all those issues with Jersey barriers, dirt mounds and fencing. The coarse Is basically done. They just have to have a 5,000,000 dollar insurance policey, EMT and 5,000 dollars to run on it for a day. I am not sure on there exact date to post the info. It is a fun coarse I have been on it many times over the yrs checking it out. I run drift events at E-town with some others. We were on the Road Coarse last month drifting. Shot some video for the Drift Alliance video comming up. The back section of the coarse is quite fun to drift. There are hills you can't see over that drop off into turns. The coarse does need some maintenance since it sat for so many yrs. Maybe thaths why they haven't posted anything up yet.

Ive driven it.

The SCCA is trying to work things out with E-town. They got a much better price then 5 grand.

Heres me in the STI on it. Fun course, eats brakes, but fast.
SCCA set up cones on it, then a few of us ran it, it was during corvette day.

Heres a video of my STI on the course, sorry for the polish (co-driver) cursing in polish.

gimme a few and I will post some pics.

Sorry their not anything near the quality of pics posted on this site, but it was like a 100 degrees and all we had was a point and shot. We were to busy driving to take shots of one another.

Don't quote Shawn on the numbers, those were just some rough numbers that we were throwing around for a big event we were working on.

As for the course, it's getting eaten up from not being driven on and having construction trucks on it too much. It could be a fun course, there's just lots of little problems with it. Without having a ton of jersey barriers up, it's hard to have multiple cars on the course at the same time. Because if one car goes off at certain parts, they're getting thrown right in front of fast sections where other cars could be.

It looks like SCCA set it up to slow speeds down a lot. Chicane on the straight and messing with that fun turn in the middle of the front part of the course.

I havent seen pictures of it in a couple years, last time i saw an aerial photo it didnt look like it had any run-offs at all? Did they do something about that?

Yeah, they held it as an "autox" so they made the speeds well under 80mph. I think the highest speed I hit was about 74mph. They haven't used the course much and were worried about novice drivers so they set up the cones.

If they do run events their not gonna run it with more then one car on the track. Prolly stagger the starts to keep things moving along nicely.

The owner of e-town was out with us all day, he seemed to be into it. Don't know why they havent moved things along faster.

lownslow95 09-16-2007 09:20 PM

damn that looks like fun...

S.Milone 09-17-2007 06:20 PM

Wow they really take the fun out of that coarse with the cones don't they. The turn in the back that drops over the hill is fun at speed. And yes my numbers we just a rough est. we were given.

Its sad that this course is un-driven pretty much all the time. The reason we had cones was because we had a lot of corvette drivers on the course (corvette day auto-x).

Unfortunately there was a lot of SCCA talk about the road course, but that has dwindled away. Im not sure of their plans on if they will ever hold days where we run the course, which is sad.

Do you guys have any plans on using it for drifting again in the near future? Id love to come out and watch.

2drStunner 09-19-2007 07:19 AM

I hope this course gets finished......but in my opinion its not looking good! I dont know any facts nor have i talked to anybody at E town, so its just my thoughts!
