04 stillen supercharged z not boosting! help

OK we put a stillen stage 2 supercharger on my friends 04 350z, We hooked up a boost gauge as well, The car is making no boost and the gauge will sit a lil over 0 at WOT. The supercharger whistles LOUD but it doesnt seem to be generating any power. We re checked all the vaccum lines and everything seems to be hooked up right and no signs of a leak or lose line.

so pretty much we just have a heavy noise maker mounted to the top of the engine. :screwy:

can any body help, or possibly give us advice on what else to check?

does it feel faster? the belt tight?

Im2Slow 08-05-2007 03:59 PM

does not feel faster, belt is tight,

SeMaxima99 08-05-2007 04:05 PM

hmm i dont know too much about them sc'ers and the z but the belt not being tight was a big thing on my old maxima with the sc'er

That must be a leak somewhere, right?

Im2Slow 08-05-2007 04:28 PM

Yea thats the only thing i can think of, but all the vaccum lines seem to be in good shape. I think the stillen supercharger might just be junk, i told the owner of the car to send it back to stillen and demand his money back and get a turbo kit.

It's probably a small overlooked problem. Have you contacted Stillen?

Im2Slow 08-05-2007 05:38 PM

yes, but they where little to no help, steve from bowes is gonna talk to stillens tech tommorow, after chip lost to kyle basabus we knew there was a huge problem

Yea, that should not happen.:bigeek: Kyles car isn't fast.

I think i might of found the problem, he has a underdrive pulley on the crank, you think this could be making the belt spin to slow on the charger and not make it create boost

Uhh, The reason the belt spins in the first place is because of the underdrive pulley. All cars have it.

SeMaxima99 08-06-2007 05:30 PM

yea but the underdrive does take away some power. I know if on the max it takes away about 2psi. But also wouldnt they have sent a belt what wouldnt have fit then because of the underdrive pulley? tell him if he still wants to have that get the sc lightened pulley becase that keeps stock diamater.

Im2Slow 08-06-2007 05:30 PM

no no, he has a aftermarket pulley " unorthodox racing underdrive pulley" it is a lot smaller then the stock crank pulley, which in turn means he is throwing off the belt cycle and speed that would be required to spin the charger pulley at the speed it needs to create boost.

I THINK

Im2Slow 08-06-2007 05:31 PM

im not sure if im right or wrong but, its like my last hope hear, i tried everything else.

SeMaxima99 08-06-2007 05:33 PM

that could be it but i would have thought that you would have known that sooner like when you put the belt on the sc'er because it wouldnt have fit.

Im2Slow 08-06-2007 05:36 PM

yea, it was just something we all over looked, i remeber him having to go to pep boys to get another belt, one a lil smaller. o well, hopefully this works, hes ordering a stock crank pully from nissan and putting it on, hopefully his non boosting days are over.

SeMaxima99 08-06-2007 05:41 PM

if it works just use that for alittle and then have him order the lightend but make sure its the SC version so it retains the same size as stock but is light weight.

Im2Slow 08-06-2007 05:43 PM

yea i was telling him to do that, Z1 motorsports sells a stock sized crank pulley that is the lightest on the market, and its 100 bucks cheaper then buying the stock one from conicelli nissan

I figured that it wouldn't boost at all instaed of working for...1-2 weeks? It's strange that it descided to not work after that amount of time as opposed to not working at all.

Im2Slow 08-06-2007 06:08 PM

lol it never worked, he just assumed it was working because it was making noise. after he lost to kyle he hooked up boost gauge and it showed he was barly boosting a pound and that wasnt till high high rpms
