My financial situation

so im looking for advise from anyone who has their act together. i make decent money, but i never seem to have anything in my account at the end of the month. my bills total $1500 a month give or take. this includes car payment, rent, insurance, utilities, credit cards, etc. i bring home roughly $500-700 weekly between 2 jobs (sometimes more but i never bring home less than 500). my intent was to buy a house after my lease is up this november, but it doesnt look too promising. i was thinking about either selling the SRT and paying off whatevers left over, or selling the other 2 cars and keeping the SRT and moving back home.

But, since i dont want to do any of those things, and i want to have it all, what options do i have? i know i need to make more money, thats a given. but how do i go about doing it? i have been stuck in this rut for some time now. i dont want to get a third job. thats out of he question. i hate what i do now, but since college isnt an option, i cant make more money. what i mean is that every job i looked into wants to start me out at a significantly lower rate than im getting now, and since im stretched as far as i can go already, its out of the question. i interviewed for a job yesterday that was $3 less an hour than im already getting, but it was night work so that means is can pick up more hours at my PT job during the day. that will even things out, but not improve anything.

so please, offer up some opinions at improving this train wreck i call my life.

are you already in an apartment? If not, maybe you can downsize to that, or do what my mother did. She got lucky and created an Ebay store and made a **** load of money. lol.

ThePrimerSuspect 08-01-2007 10:48 PM

yea, im in an apartment. rent is pretty cheap for what it is, so it cant really get any better rent-wise.

sell ur srt and cougar, move in with mom, save ur money until u have 50 grand, get a 200k house, wat do u do for a living

ThePrimerSuspect 08-01-2007 10:53 PM

auto tech. but im anxiously awaiting the police department. however, that will probably take at least another year til im in the academy, so i need to do something else for the time being before i loose my ****ing mind at work.

cut down your pay out monthly

do you have a lot of credit cards?

where is all your money going?

can you be a bit more specific about where your money goes....

ThePrimerSuspect 08-01-2007 10:59 PM

if i knew i could. well, i owe about $4k on one card and i got another one paid down to like $700. im paying like $100 to each card, $600 for the car and insurance (for all 3), rent is $300, utilities usually $150-200, student loans $100, cell phone is $120, and then $200 for tools. these are all rough estimates.

sleepersatty99 08-01-2007 11:17 PM

well one thing is for sure you need to pay off your credit cards. then why dont you try and cut back on your cell phone bill. im mean there are cheaper plans out there that im sure will meet your needs. do you go out alot? eat out or anything like?

sleepersatty99 08-01-2007 11:17 PM

wait you pay 200 a month for tools?

BlackBulletTSi 08-01-2007 11:17 PM

My suggestion is sell one car that would be best. Another thing you could maybe do is try and get a consolidation loan. Make it all one payment with a decent interest rate and then pay almost double the monthly payment on it. You could probably do some damage to ur debt doing it that way. This is just what I'm suggesting.

S4toSTI 08-01-2007 11:18 PM

I don't know if your credit cards have high interest and if you have good credit or not but high interest on cc's is a killer. Transfer any money you owe to new 0% cards if you can.

CobaltGrl 08-01-2007 11:22 PM

start cutting out any and all extra spending, i.e; change your cell phone plan, cosolidate your debt.

just dont spend money on things you dont need

no booze
dont eat out
ect, ect....

ya gotta start savin'

S4toSTI 08-01-2007 11:25 PM

Boobs yeah none of those either haha.

Also where do you keep your money? Just in the bank or under your matress?

i looked into this last year, but i had no idea what i was looking at by the end. i tried to get a personal loan through my bank but got denied because i fell behind on my car payment last winter when i lost my job, and apparently that really hurt my credit. plus im really nervous because work tends to get REALLY slow in the winter time.

What companies do you have?

CleanNeon98 08-01-2007 11:31 PM

id def sell at least 1 of the cars, 2 would be best, keep the cheapest one, and have some money, then you can get the house.

both verizon. i had one in my moms name forever, then i got my own but the contract wasnt up on the first one (my **** up) so now i gotta pay both til march. unless i get some extra cash and cancel it.

97TurboDSM 08-01-2007 11:33 PM

i say sell two of the three cars that you dont enjoy as much as the other. there is plenty of time in your life to own more than one car. at this point it doesnt seem to be in your best interest to do so. use the money you get from the two cars you sell to get yourself caught up on those credit cards and if you have any money left over, put that in a savings account or something to gain interest and use for bills and such. just sit down and figure out what spending is completely necessary and weed out the things that can wait and arent too important at the moment. should help immensely to get you more financially stable.
