And so I begin another new journey in life

Well, as of yesterday, I officially have a new job. Having a job isn't new to me, however, having a full time job is. I am now officially an employee of Advance Auto Parts! I am technically part-time, however I will be working full time hours. (at least 35-40 hours a week) I start friday, and I am pretty excited. Everybody that works there seems to be really cool and easy to get along with, and the store manager seems like a REALLY cool guy. Like I said as of right now, I'm part-time, however hopefully in the near future (next few months) a full time slot will open up for me. It seems like a really good place to work for, and it seems like there is a LOT of room to move up. After my first 90 days, depending on how I do, I may be able to get a raise, if not a promotion. Also, a BIG perk for me, is that I get a 20% discount on pretty much everything besides full motors and transmissions. I also will be eligible for some good benefits after I've been there a little while. I dont think it will take me too long to learn the ropes of the place. I already have a pretty good knowledge of parts, how to work computers, and of helping people diagnose problems, so I feel that I'll be ok. I am a little nervous though about working the kind of hours I will be working, since I've never done it before. But anyways, just thought I'd share with you guys!

Sorry for the long post lol.

Cliff notes:

I got a new job at advance auto

This is my first full time job (or at least full time hours)

I get discounts

yea....

trust me I wouldn't. I have worked retail before...wal-mart FTMFL!!! I can usually keep pretty cool though with a-hole customers. i know that people get freakin NUTS when it comes to their cars, especially when they have no idea wtf they are talking about.

Scapegoat 08-01-2007 05:51 PM

I worked for Pep Boys... the Service manager sucked balls. But I had a good time. I quit cause it was my second job and I wanted to go to my g/f's aunt's boat for the weekend...

allspoolin4 08-01-2007 11:09 PM

oh yeah i have been working there for about a year now, my store is alright but, it sucks dealing w/ customers, what store are you gonna be at?
oh yeah 20% discounts woop

I worked at an aftermarket installation and sales company in Jersey before.

I do and do not miss it. I hate arrogant customers. I miss driving Vipers and Corvettes in and out of the shop. I miss drooling on the Aston Martins. And I miss the huge Bronco.

well today was my first day and it went well. However, I am NOT used to standing for 8 hours straight. My feet are hurtin.

my boyfriend worked there for awhile..it sucked.
they always made him/and others stay..without telling them in advanced..it'd be time to get off..and they'd tell them no..can't go.
do they do that there?
