in washington state there is a law that they can't change your schedule within x days of the shift, is there one like that here?

wgknestrick 07-19-2007 12:27 AM

So what do you expect to do considering this is only the 9th time you did this? You are lucky you still have a job. Maybe after the 2nd time was time to address the issue.

I would start looking for another job because regardless of the outcome, you are on the edge of the pirates' plank now.

I don't mean to be a dick, but "matter of fact" is not on your side here at all.

mr_eh 07-19-2007 12:46 AM

1 no call no show at vonage = fired

what i dont understand is, your schedule isnt posted anywhere? does he just think it in his head and thats your schedule, or in reality is there a sheet somewhere posted with your schedule that your responsible for?

not trying to be a dick, i had a similiar thing that happened at my old job, i usually worked weekends and wednesdays, they scheduled me on monday (posted the schedule on sunday when i wasnt at work) got home from school at 3pm and got a phone call saying im supposed to be at work at 330, i quit over the phone

LS2GTO 07-19-2007 01:40 AM

thats why you work for yourself. dont need to worry about BS from a boss.

BlackBulletTSi 07-19-2007 02:14 AM

I had that happen to me before when I worked at redners I was young. So I guess they thought they ould get away with it. well I started writing the schedule down and having a manger initial it and then when they kept pulling it I said uhhh no I'm young not stupid and LS2GTO Id love to work for myself just tryin to get offf my feet!

Thats the way to go!

The main thing that sucks, but you need to keep in you head is that PA is an at-will employment state, meaning they can fire you for any reason basically. Definitely talk to HR and go to your boss's boss, but like some other people said, you might be S.O.L. I really hope it works out for you though. Good luck

Exactly. You want a job like you have, you should know it's hectic.

And LEGAL ACTION???? Well yea, people sue for anything these day's, including being a dumbass who wants money for being a no show 9 times in 12 months. Your hospitals lawyers would literally laugh at you. It's a private company and they can schedule whenever they like, as well as fire you whenever they would like.

Broken5hift 07-19-2007 08:47 AM

i was thinking the same thing,
but honestly you just need to be more responsible for your own life.

Snoozie 07-19-2007 10:58 AM

Is the schedule posted somewhere? I dont see why he would change it and not say anything unless there is. I think thats the only way you would have an argument. Its up to you to review you shifts before you leave work or whatever, even if you arent supposed to be working any other days.

Honest_Bob 07-19-2007 11:19 AM

Not to be a dick, but shouldnt this have been resolved after the first or second offense?
