Seems like a very nice version of windows...are there any members here using it that know any cool little tricks for it?? Perhaps new options that I didnt get to find yet

Hold down the Windows Key and hit TAB. You get to use that Flip 3D thinger when multiple windows are open.

I think there is a hidden 'Format' button some where in Vista that will let your computer uninstall vista so you can install windows xp. It will make your computer run...hella faster.

Susie has Windows Vista basic on her laptop and it was stooopid slow till she spent alot of money doubling her ram.

SexyDSM95 07-13-2007 01:05 PM

Did you guys adjust/set up your Virtual Memory? Get rid of all the crap/startup items that come with brand new computers?

Dave 07-13-2007 01:06 PM

Yeah, you really need at least a gig to make it work right.

my dad did that for us when we bought it. The computer was just slow opening apps. now its fast like a regular computer. She likes it I think lol. My told us afterwards to buy the 1.5 thingy from crucial and now its cool

Z3R0 07-13-2007 01:56 PM

Lol, my laptop came with vista basic. When I turned it on it had all this extra crap that had to run before I could actually use the laptop. I ended up uninstalling the crap as it was being installed since there was no way for me to close the install windows.

Then I just thought, **ck it, poped in the "100% legal" copy of windows xp pro and installed that.

Of course if you wanna get technical: My PC is souped up and ready for vista, but there is no way in hell that I am putting it on there.
Specs:
Pentium 4 3.0ghz? with hyper-threading
2 gigs of memory
nvidia 5500 OC
Seagate barracude...I think its a 80 gig HDD...

Once again, Vista is great if you have the machine for it. I don't care if you buy the machine with it, unless you spent money to get the "top of the line" model, then you pay for what you get. Many of the PCs/laptops being sold with Vista installed are only meeting the minimum requirements, so of course its going to run like ass soon after you get it.

And the Windows key with Tab, only works if Windows Areo is installed, which only gets installed IF your hardware supports it. For instance some PC's I have here at work run Vista just great, but their video cards do NOT support the added graphical features found in Vista, like Windows Aero, hence, it doesn't get installed.

i'm plannin on snaggin myself a copy soon, I like Vista Ultimate and again if u put an op system on with min requirements its gonna be ass
