Inspection in NJ w/ tints
 

I have to get inspected ASAP, but I have front window tints. Not only do I not have enough time to remove them, I don't want to!

Can I go to the inspection station with my windows down, or will they check? Will they pass me and tell me to fix it? Do gas station inspections care about my window tints?

Any ideas on how I can pass?

first of all, go to the place, be like, yo i need my car inspected, but i got tint...

rinse and repeat till you find a place that says dont worry about it

i member when i had my other car.. i had all my windows tinted and i tried to go thru with my windows down and them s.o.b rolled my windows up and found out i had tint lol.. it was pretty funny but i was mad at the same time. i guess it depends on whos inspecting the car..

some inspectors don't roll the windows back up.

Front tinted windows = automatic fail.

Unfortunately, NJ is cracking down on private shops that pass cars with tint on the front windows

when you go for the private shop inspection just make it clear you had the tint put on after the inspection that they are about to do if they roll the windows up. good luck.

I made out fine, private shop with my windows down.

Can you imagine PA strictly enforcing their tint law? Then you'll think NJ is better

lol i'll give you that one, but nj cops are dicks(for the most part)

they will definately check, and you will fail for them.

Deff second that one....I know a few who are an exception but for the most part a lot of cops in jersey are on power trips...not all...just a lot.

Guess how much worse that is? You think the tint ticket is bad, you have to see the ticket for modifying after inspection. No NJ DMV will pass you, if you go there with both front windows down expect them to roll them up. You could probably find a private garage that wont but like its been said here most are gonna check and the state is going crazy on these private shops. I remember when I first got my license I had a sheet of 24 violations from cars I inspected. That on top of the dummy cars they send in. Most inspectors will see a car come in with something like tinted windows and the fronts down and get nervous and go thru you car with a fine tooth comb because they feel its a state trap car. Been there and done that.
