He's actually going to put on some spacers once I machine them for him to just to get them flush with -1.5* deg of camber. So you may want to consider buying some really FAT spacers for +17.....

Yeah, with the 20mm overs, you're going to need at least a 25mm spacer to make those look good. And -1.5* of camber isn't enough if you're car is lower than stock. Camber curves in the front suck, and you lose camber in jounce, in roll, in hardparking, you're pretty much losing camber just looking at the thing. At least -3 if your car is low, -3+ if you're car is the right height.

VerySlowS14 06-09-2007 09:00 AM

Ok here's the deal...

I know it's not gonna be flush up front, maybe like 15 mm off or so.....rear will be perfect

As for camber, I plan on running -1 rear, -1.5 front....

Although I got a kit, I primarily care about handling, then speed, then looks in that order.

I have upgraded every single suspension component on the car.....tie rods inner/outer, tension rods, front and rear sway bar and links, traction rods, toe rods, rear camber arms, coilovers

The thing handles crazy well, just ask StreetEG....so under cornering, my suspension is so stiff (all pillowball stuff) that I am really not going to see much movement aside from the sidewalls of the tires....almost 0 body roll no matter how sharp the turn, etc.

Thanks for the comments yo

ditch the widebody fenders

run more camber, 3* is normal on an s-chassis

basically everything has already been said

VerySlowS14 06-09-2007 10:18 AM

So why would I run -3 up front? Certianly not because other people do. 95% of people driving hooked up cars have no clue how alignment and suspension components effect handling. No need for -3 up front, and DEFINITELY not in back.

I mean that's good for autocross, but it looks like ****

We will see about the fenders.....it's only 20 mm, less than an inch

Things like fenders, camber are all personal preference...so far I have done everything on this car based on what I wanted, starting with spending all of my money on suspension components. Now it handles really well and I am glad I made those choices

and thats wall that matters. what YOU want.
good job.. car is gonna look killer when its done

VerySlowS14 06-09-2007 10:45 AM

Nah you are right, I mean you can't roll fiberglass fenders, and I am expecting 15-20 mm of gap...in the future I might get lower offset wheels we will see, maybe 18s

this is before kit:

If you want me to go into why you need more camber in the front on a MacP car, then I will, but I would rather not because I've said it so many times before. And I've modeled the front suspension and if the car is low, like man style ride height, you're going to have positive camber gain in jounce, which will be amplified in roll. I'm not saying to run more camber because of looks, it's because of suspension kinematics and how the tire is loaded.

So if you think the car handles well now, a proper alignment and setup would make it handle better.

And fenders, if you have 20mm overs and you're wheels are sunken, it's going to look gay. You don't want that. So based on that last picture you posted, if you're running proper camber, and the fenders, like I said before, at least a 25mm spacer to make them look right.

VerySlowS14 06-09-2007 11:16 AM

Ok agreed on the suspension movement, I thought you were saying camber for looks....

I really hate the look of that much camber, so maybe -2 or so I will go with up front.

Rear should be pretty flush...I will post pics with my real wheels just to see how gay or decent it looks

Also, even though the top may be sunken in about an inch, the bottom would be sunken in no matter what....the bottom back corner of the front bumper on this kit sticks out pretty far

We will see....I'm not super fussy about this stuff....hesitant to run spacers, as I have heard it puts alot of stress on the studs

StreetEG 06-09-2007 04:00 PM

You guys are such pussies. 3 degrees camber is weak. This is what my car is gonna look like....

BITCHES

whitezenki 06-09-2007 04:57 PM

17x9 +0 is good fitment on the rear, may need a little pull, but with a 15mm spacer im sure it would look great...

and streeteg, thats positive camber lol

17x9 +0 AND a 15 mm spacer in back?!?!? I have regular fenders in back, and as you saw in my above picture, i am essentially flush with x9 +17

I am a HUGE fan of flushness, but once the tire starts to stick out past the fender, I hate that look....seems like x9 +0 with a 15 mm spacer would stick out another inch and a half....i'm not going for that look

whitezenki 06-09-2007 10:36 PM

no

a 15mm spacer on your +17's

VerySlowS14 06-09-2007 10:53 PM

Oh ok, i was gonna say that is getting out there!

Eh i agree....like you said, I would then need a bit more pull/camber

Right now, I have only a little pull, and have maybe like -1.5 rear camber...

If i drop the car all the way down, the sidewall brushes the inner edge of the fender (right where the sidewall meets the rim lip)

I could push the wheels out more with offset or spacers like you said, but i want to keep the ride height i have now....

Now we are arguing over halves of inches hahaha

whitezenki 06-09-2007 11:47 PM

halves of inches make a difference...

but my fitment sucks, so im not really one to talk
