Tint Law

Check this out, regarding the tinting laws in PA . I saw a couple posts about being pulled over for tint. Print this out if your car is tinted It may get you out of a ticket.

lol i been have this link bookmark since like 3 months when i got pulled over for tints..very good

you have to let 70% of light go through right, that still keeps it legal?

weazel240 04-06-2007 02:24 PM

i own my current car for 7 months... and i got slapped with a fine 5 times already 110$ each...
and i still rock my tint. but its 5%. i might have to reduce it to 20% to have this work.

Nice article.

fyi, 70% is basically what is factory tint. You might get by with a 35% tint. but anything darker doubt it.

your factory tint on your windsheild is 70%. so, if you have any tint at all, your asking for a ticket. i have 5% and i get pulled over maybe once a year. i guess it depends on where you live.

Nice link Nick.

Does it hold-up in court?

assault187 04-06-2007 10:49 PM

why wouldnt it.....its stated right out the thier law book. Its a valid argument to hold up.

Sled 04-06-2007 11:36 PM

nothing holds up in court with window tint. you gotta be a lawyer to get by with that. ive tried everything. i just pay it like a tax now every year. just sucks when im trying to get somewhere on time and i get pulled over for it.

Isn't it the other way around, you can block 70% of light.

Dan00313 04-07-2007 01:21 PM

I've had 15% for 2 yrs on my wrx with no problems whatsover from cops in Dtown.

That web page doesn't mean anything. It might appear to look like a loop hole but it isn't. It says basically that you're allowed to have tint as long as you can see through it which is actually bad. It basically leaves it up to the cop that pulled you over. If he says "I couldn't see into it very well" then you're screwed into paying the ticket no matter what. Now if you can see through the windows then you really don't have to worry about getting pulled over. If you get it tinted to factory percentage then you'll probably have nothing to worry about. But we all know that everyone wants to roll around blacked out for some reason. So if you have really dark tint just suck it up like the guy in this thread did and pay the ticket or tint it lighter.

Thats cause they know they can't catch you if you take off. ;) no, seriously though, I think PA is horrible with all the laws i've been faced with since I moved here. I myself will be getting 25% all the way around. Black car, Black interior.. the sex.

EDIT: Removed remainder of comment due to it being mean & inappropriate.

Law says 70% has to pass..stock windshield on a GM lets 71%..pretty muched f-ed with anything, so i just stick wit my 5%, tell the cop u'll take it off...only works like 1/3 times haha
