SCCA Solo Helmet M2000?

I plan on participating in a Solo II event this weekend, so I went shopping for a helmet today. I know that it has to Snell approved and a rating of 2000, but the M2000 helmets are significantly cheaper than the SA2000 helmets. Does anyone know if the M2000 helmets are legal? I tried searching on the SCCA's website, but couldn't find any info. Thanks for your help.

Mine just says Snell 2000 on it and it's fine. Tell you the truth, they rarely check. I've never had a tech guy ask me to show him the Snell rating sticker.

I'm waiting until OCT to invest in a Snell 2005 - it's good for ten years by then.

I'v never had my helmet checked either. I did get yelled at when I tried to race barefoot though. Didn't have my race shoes with me. Had to race in normal sneakers. Heel toeing was a B*tch

From the rule book

Quote:

4.3 DRIVER’S SAFETY EQUIPMENT
4.3.1 Helmets
Helmets meeting the following standards must be worn while on
course: All helmets meeting the current or two immediately preceding
Snell Foundation standards (SA, K, or M), or SFI standards 31.1A,
31.2A, 41.1A, or 41.2A are acceptable. FIA approved helmets which
are acceptable for use in Rally events are acceptable for Solo II events.

For maximum protection, helmets must fit securely and should
provide adequate peripheral vision. The chin strap must be securely
fastened. Loaner helmets should be available to vehicle occupants
not having their own.
You should be fine for a good long while for Solo II with a Snell M2000 helmet. Do you really want to keep a helmet for ten years of regular use?
