Inter-office relationships- yay or nay?

I know the old saying "never **** where you eat" But I'm just wondering how other people feel about getting involved with someone you work with....If youre like me, you spend a lot of time at work and friendships are naturally going to form but is it always strictly taboo to take that friendship to another level?

discuss...any feedback(preferably serious responses) are appreciated:mrgreen:

i worked with my g/f for a couple months, could not stand it, i had to quit so for my imput i would say stay away from that kind of relationship.

yeah me too I got no work done. Haha but yeah unless it something that arises from work, and it doesn't affect anything or anyone as far as your job then I would say no.

But i don't work with you so it's ok....
i ended up dating a girl i used to work with. It def. does get in the way of getting anything done there and in my case caused problems with others that worked there. Oh well you live you learn. I would say no because of all this, but being attracted to someone you work with is very common. If you're job is not that important to you why not but if it is you're better off leaving it be.

Professional and personal relationships are best kept separate.

There may come a promotion for you and co-workers may feel that you will show favorism to the significant other.

I've seen too many issues that arise from the failed relationships, which are most of them. The negative effects are too great, imo, unless you really hate your job.

Actually, he's an AVP (assistant vice president) but not my direct supervisor. I guess that really doesnt make a difference though, because it seems as if the general consensus is- dont do it:(

Man, this blows. I guess I need to look else where....

****! and he had SO much potential...

youll find someone it takes time, some where out there is a guy that will give an arm and leg for you, you just have to find eachother (2 ppl from this forum just got out of realationships)

It's not as exciting as you would think.

I wish our CEO was female :(

The man up top has had at least two affairs in the work place (at least two that the employees know about).

ahh to be young again

getting old and being responsible FTL!

Honest_Bob 03-16-2007 12:41 AM

I'd say hell no. I'd even say no to someone that runs in the same crowd as you and your friends. If **** hits the fan it could be hard to move on when you constantly see that person. Sometimes you get lucky though.

CobaltGrl 03-16-2007 12:44 AM

Ok, so if I dont date anyone I work with....and I dont date anyone that runs in the same circle of friends as me...who the hell do I date?

I now understand why I was in a relationship for so long, this whole dating thing is GAY!

D Money 03-16-2007 12:48 AM

you'll get the dude. Unzip his pants and smoke his PP, he will love you forever. Atleast I would, well maybe until I clocked out.
