Speed Sensing Cameras
 

just saw on ABC news that Philly is in the process of getting speed sensing cameras to add to the intersections w/ the red light ones. not sure how they work (mainly cause that isn't my field) but they determine your speed in the intersection and you get sent a fine in the mail, (as you would if you blew a red light) for doing 10mph or more over the limit. fines beginning at $125, no moving violation or points, just a fine. they're hoping for installation in late september.

they've had these out west for a while... its a pain in the ass. in arizona they actually had cameras they'd set up on the side of the road. they were pretty well hidden and they moved their locations weekly, sometimes you wouldnt even know you got tagged until you got a ticket in the mail.
points can only be issued for a violation recorded by an officer in person so any of this automated stuff will be fine only, no points.
but yeah, boo to them finally making their way here...

aside from getting gas, can't even go 55mph now, at least not through intersections....damn government trying to make us drive safe!!

what a shame that people cant speed on public roads or run red lights huh? =P

there has to be a speed at which these arent reliable anymore. I will reach it and beat all of teh camerAs! w00t

aside from the fact that the limits on the blvd are way too low, and people are only getting killed because THE DONT KNOW HOW TO CROSS THE STREET.. these cameras have recorded such feats as the infamous 160+mph Hyundai rental car.

get ready for false fines.

by the way.. when did this get approved? i remember it being discussed but never heard they decided to do it

well im glad i know this now. i smoked one of those lights doing 120 last night. no more of that I guess. That sucks tho, there are places on the BLVD with no crosswalks, cross streets or pedestrians.

haha did u see mybusters the other day...they prove dthat if a bird went through that ezpass lane it would catch it on camera..they also proved all those license plate cover dont work well.

i'll let someone else test the cameras ability, i can't afford any tickets, and i don't know how they'll work if there's several cars passing at once all at different speeds, who's to say who is the one speeding
