LS/Vtec Help....
Anyone know anything about LS/vtec? I tried Honda-tech's search buisness and all i get is the same questions i have but everyone says use the search. Anyone know how much it would cost roughly to get it done and where to get it done? I was thinking Impo personally. Honda-tech seems like everyones a stuck up asshole for honda noobs. Thanks

Basically its putting a Vtec head on a non vtec block. Either a b16 head or a b18c1/c5 on a b18b block. This is ls/vtec. You can also put a vtec head on an b20 block from a honda cr-v. Definatly search more on honda-tech it is by far the best site for honda info. You can most defiatly find what ever you need by searching. Every question you have has probably been asked and answered. Getting a shop to do all of it would be a waste of money. You would need a machine shop to drill and tap the oil passage.

i hear good/bad things about the b20 block/ls head. higher compression, more power to boot but limited beyond that.
why don't you just do it at home? it's not TOO hard as far as I understand if you can read and use tools properly. |
The thing about doing it at home is i heard it can be unstable. On honda-tech through what ive read some people have very little problems then others have so many things go wrong. People say its all from the install and I've heard Impo is a good place but i would like to get a price quote from them. Id rather not have it run fine then the engine implode on itsself while im out in the middle of cattle country (shippensburg) for college

No. Like I told you before, it all depends on what you want to do with it. You can make it for pretty cheap, under 1.5k total using basic parts. Or you can spend 3k+ and make an insane set up. All depends. But, for what you said in your other post(200whp), you can easily make that for under 1500, but that is doing your own work. If you want to take it somewhere, expect to pay a good amount. |
I understand that but i dont know how to do it lol. How hard is it to do without a shop?

Listen to me man, go to first state motorsports.. they freakin specialize in LS vtec stuff. you'd be dumb not to check them out. tell them doug sent you.

Honda's are very eaisy to work on. I would do the research and do the work yourself. Then if something goes wrong you have the experience to fix it yourself. If I would of paid someone to do all the work on my car I wouldn't know half of the things I know now.
