Sil80 (180sx with S15 front)

I need help finding a S15 front end conversion kit for a 180sx body style. I found one but its $3,700. Kinda looking for a better price than that. I was also looking for just the fender conversion if anyone has seen one. Thank.

b/c it looks like trash and is complete rice unless the rest of your car is baller as hell. Everytime i see an s15 front end on a front end it makes me think of a photoshop som kid did, like its just not supp to be there. My girlfriend even thinks it looks like garbage. Chuki FTW!

i personally dont understand why you would want an s15 front end at all, not really the bandwagon i would support hopping on, pretty much every single 240 owner wants it at the beginning, but once they look around and realize how bad it really is, they realize it sux for 99% of applications...

what else is goin on the car, b/c if its not fully kitted, an inch from the ground, and rocking negative offset wheels its not worth the money. and considering you had to ask about where to find one, i doubt it will meet the rest of the requirements of "proper s15 front end applicant"

on cars you see at the shows, and in magazines and what not, but dont get everyone under the impression that D thinks "hey, if i put an s15 front end on my s13 with a stock motor swap, egay body kit, and rotas, ill be the coolest guy in town!"

james_ls 02-21-2007 11:52 PM

Its gettin a nice little 2.6 liter monster and SOME form of a baller JDM kit.

It'll work out. I'm a maniac for detail. So is Steve.

i hope to god it does, and if so im excited to see it. S15 front ends mite be bandwagon spec, but RB26 is dream spec. Im sure it can cover for an s15 conversion. What tranny are you planning on using man? Single or Twin turbo? Mckinney motor mounts?

and wow! would u look at that, you can buy one from a trusted dealer at a way better price right here!

double edit:
a sil80 is not what you are looking for, it is what Dave was discussing. What you are looking for is an s13.5. I was so thrown off by the idea of another car lost to a s15 conversion i didnt even realize you dont know the proper name. I think its time to research some more before you jump into such a big project.

Sil80er 02-22-2007 09:45 AM

Im not really one of these fad, “what’s in” type of kids and I know its not properly called an sil80 but im going to call it what ever the **** I want.

As far as what im going to use, I don’t even have the car yet and haven’t been researching this much. I was just asking about the swap to see if its something id like to do.

...i can almost understand you didnt know that, considering right now its only "i want an RB26 in a 240." The 3700 spent on an s15 conversion will be pocket change compared to the at least 10,000-15,000 youll be spending on a basic RB26 swap. Even after that, your gonna need another two grand into suspension and brakes to handle the power and weight, about two grand in wheels and tires to handle the power, unless your rollin on some unfortunate brand like rotas, and you still wont have the kit or the paint to justify the s15 front end after all of this. All of this doesnt include the daily driver you will need, cleaning up the engine upon arrivale, and the chassis bracing which will be necessary to keep from ripping your 15 year old car to pieces every time u touch the gas. RB26 swaps are no joke, once you do all that you could put whatever front end u want on and the car be look sweet as hell.

highmilehatch does work on nissans..contact him

starkos14 02-22-2007 02:21 PM

yeah, street-solutions can do the conversion and get you pricing. the shop is located just north of philly... i do somewhat agree with whitezenki, you really have do your car up right to have the s15 front and get a nice kit.. otherwise the car just looks, well yeah, "photoshopped". as long as you kit it, drop it, and throw some deep dish wheels, you're all set... oh and this should require a massive front mount

CWon7bolt? 02-22-2007 02:58 PM

I had no intention of installing a half assed 15 front end first without anything else done. This project will probably last about a year and through common sense the chassis and motor work will come first and is most important to me. First thing ill do is completely strip the car to the chassis (can’t wait). I’m actually leaning toward an RB25 because it doesn’t require as much modification to fit right. I’m planning to get the engine as low and far back as possible. I priced out a engine, trans, ecu, and wiring harness at $4,000 shipped to my door.

As far as the “What’s in” comment, I’m not doing this because it may be popular or because other my like it. I’m doing this because id like to, because I like it.
