Protest: Great American Diner In Langhorne!
Ok, what im about to tell you is 100% true. No lies. Read On.
Ok so yesterday, my friend (a girl) and I went to the GAP on rt1. We sit down and order drinks. Then the waitress kept coming back once every minute to ask what we wanted, we kept telling her we were not ready yet. So finally we order our food. I order chicken fritters, which comes with fries and i got a potato soup. So my soup comes out, its fine. nothing wrong. My friend on the other hand got some kinda tossed salad and it had chicken bacon ranch dressing. She said it tasted funny so we called the waitress over and asked about it. She said that they have a new recipe for it. My friend said a comment along the lines of "This place has changed in the last couple months" in a non hostile way. The waitress seemed annoyed with us. So after about 45 minutes of waiting our food comes out. Brought out by some guy we never saw before. So we get our food, and I take a bite out of my chicken fritter and then go to dip it in the BBQ sauce, only to see the most disgusting thing in the entire world. i spit my food out on my plate, and my friend actually yelled. There was a HUGE curly pubic hair sticking right out of my BBQ sauce. No Lie. So i take a french fry and move the sauce around to see that there is a couple more of them IN the sauce. Disgusted and annoyed, we ask for the manager. So this lady comes out and we tell her, listen this "hair" looks like a male hair from a private area, and we are grossed out. We dont want our food , we just want to leave. we didnt even touch it, i took one bite and it came back out on the plate. The lady then says "Listen if you want to make a scene your doing a great job." I said "Mam' excuse me, we are trying to be civil about this. I could have gotten up and yelled about it. There was a million ways i could have took this." She says "Dont you raise your voice at me, who do you think you are!" (mind you i did not raise my voice, and still wont raise my voice at her) My friend steps in and says "Listen, just give us the bill for the salad and soup and we will leave. Also that this place has gone down in the past couple months, and the service is getting horrible." The lady said she would be right back. Lady comes back and says "We picked up your check, dont return here ever again." We both said "Whatever thats fine." "We are banned from here because there was a PUBIC HAIR in MY food." So we walk out and we are going to my car when some older russian guy comes out front and yells "DONT EVER COME BACK HERE EVER AGAIN" in such horrible english i could barely make it out. Why did i get banned for hair in my food? I never once, cursed or yelled at her or raised my voice. I guess in the end, no matter what way i approached this predicament, i was getting banned no matter what. I ask you all to protest the Great American Diner and Pub on Rt. 1. and not go there and eat ever again! |

Maybe you guys don't remember, but the GAP on rt1 was shut down by the board of health not too long ago. They have since re-opened, but as far as i'm concerned, if your place of business is bad enough to be shut down by the board of health its somewhere I don't want to eat.
We've since avoided the GAP on Rt1 like the plague and will continue to do so. Here is an excerpt from the story: "The department's five-page inspection report was released to the Courier Times Wednesday, and the paperwork shows two health inspectors found half of the 44 inspection areas on the report were in violation. The findings include moldy potatoes, which were eventually discarded, improper temperatures for hot and cold food storage, improper storage of utensils, unclean walls, equipment in disrepair and "roach activity." Other findings in the report include: Gravies, sauces in the steam table are not at safe temperatures. Half-and-half containers stored at room temperature and containers of salad dressing labeled "must be refrigerated" are stored at room temperature (the foods were discarded). Knives stored in unclean water and/or wiping cloth buckets. Food service workers not using good hygiene practices. Observed dishwasher washing hands without removing disposable gloves. Most equipment throughout the facility is in poor repair - covers missing, torn, broken gaskets, wooden leg supports, rusted interiors, shelves, etc. Grease, food particles, debris are accumulating on sides, legs, castors, inside areas of equipment and dish storage areas. Grease, food particles, debris, stagnant water, decaying food, dust are accumulating on floors, walls, ceiling, HVAC vents, drains, electrical lines. "Roach activity" observed in kitchen area near ovens, behind refrigerator by back door, in bar area and basement. Fly activity observed throughout, including the dining room. In a letter to the Courier Times, the diner's attorney alleged unfair treatment by health department supervisor Dennis Bauer. Bauer declined to talk about the diner's complaints, saying the issues will be aired at today's hearing in Doylestown. The letter from attorney Frank Lindner claimed that Bauer took a heavy-handed approach and was on a "fishing expedition" to find fault with the Great American Diner. "It appears that the health department is on a fishing expedition, spending hours and hours looking for things to cite because it takes them this long to find these things," Lindner said. " |
