My official SR powered S14a Journal - 400whp grip machine!
So intead of having 3 different threads, I decided to make my official journal
Previous Jrounals: http://www.tristatetuners.com/forum/...ad.php?t=24449 http://www.tristatetuners.com/forum/...ad.php?t=23562 http://www.tristatetuners.com/forum/...ad.php?t=22612 Car is a real 97 240 SE...original 5 speed+sunroof+NO abs car... Purchased with 62,000 on the clock, and swapped the SR into it around 65,000. I tore the entire SR down, put new bearings in the bottom end, changed out all the seals, and slapped her back together with a Cometic H/G. I bought the car with money earned overseas, with the intentions of making is a fun street car that double dutied as a fun track car as well. The car is setup with the roadcourse in mind, so there isn't anything to wild going on. IMO one of the few all around properly setup cars in the area. Awesome response, decent power, good handling, and good braking. I've got a full mod list, but no need to divulge everything right? Stock Block SR20DET Redtop Jim Wolf ECU Jim Wolf S3 RWD Cams Garrett GT2871r .64 Turbo Complete 3" Exhaust (Greddy o2 housing, MR downpipe, RSR ExMag Exhaust) Cobra MAF Mototron 60 lbs injectors. boost controller off on the track 15 pounds on the street 20 psi when I need it I try to kepe the car looking clean, but also love to abuse the **** out of my car. I guess I'm oldschool that way, as IMO if you build it right, and with good parts, than it should work. No use hanging JDM parts off of a car and then not using them how they were intended. Trust me when I say, this car is a absolute rocket on track :D DYNO VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDbB0b3xhHs Sorry about the speedo shot, as it was done at 10 psi (boost controller off)...next time I do one, I'll do it at full 20 when they tape the speedo.... So here are some pics, both all cleaned up, and in action doing what it does best. Dyno sheet at the bottom. Here are some pics from the intial threads, new pics at bottom: http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...1928.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...1898.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...1912.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...6771.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...6732.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/Dynos/uncorrected.jpg |
Now for some new pics:
Parts: I had a fun season with the 240 this year, but beating the **** out of a 10 year old car that had an old dude as the original owner, was just asking for old rubber bushings to bust/fail etc etc. So with failure comes new toys for her :D First Toy: SPL V2 Tension Arms: They are a really nice piece, and add a much needed spherical bearing in place of the gel filled stock rubber ones. These enable me to dial in some much needed + caster (Im' at +6 now) for the car. The first pics are the old blown/oozy stockers, then a comparison, then the new ones on the car... http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2521.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2516.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2522.sized.jpg Second Toy: Cusco Rear Upper Control Arms! The back ones offer no real camber adjutability (aside from the stock eccentric bolts), so now I can get that -2 or -3 that I want back there. These puppies are considerably beefier than stock :D http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2501.sized.jpg Third Toy: Dubeloz Rear Cross Brace/bar It's an American company selling a chinese rear cross brace. The bar was MUCH cheaper(like 1/4 of the price of a DoLuck bar), but it didn't fit (and I knew this going in). I knew I could make it work, so I hacked the bars off the flange, and rewelded them back a little further, and angled them right. For 80 dollars total shipped, and now getting half off for makign it work, I'm very happy. http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...0029.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...0035.sized.jpg Fourth Toy: Custom Steel Inc Water Temp Sender Sandwhich Plate! Custom Steel Inc (Pat Pruitt) is a piercing jewelry designer that also owns a Nissan, and makes cool little CNC parts for us. This piece sticks between the head and stock water outlet, and lets you install the sender in the proper location (and without having to hack the upper hose to add that style temp housing thing) Slick piece, and it hides the sender too...clean is for me! http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...0361.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...0002.sized.jpg Fifth Toy: Autometer Phatom II Water Temp Gauge I was tired of relying on the crappy factory Nissan gauge (which basically only says: cold, medium, and hot), I decided to get the real deal to moniter my temps. http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/album140/Img_2622.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/album140/Img_2623.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/album140/Img_2624.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/album140/Img_2625.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/album140/Img_2626.jpg Sixth Toy: Fender Harness Relocation!! Being lowered, and running big wheels was just asking for trouble...however I wanted to last the season before doing this hehe! Nissan for some reason locates this harness very near the tire, so any lowered 240 has problems with this harness. I rubbed through about 10 little wires, and had 2 that were cut. I ended up having to cut this entire harness, soldering/adding 3 inches of wire to each, heatshrinking them all, and then moving it up into the fender more (out of the way). I don't have any pics of the done harness, just the busted up orginal one :( http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...0001.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...0004.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...0007.sized.jpg |
I then buffed and waxed her!
I used to apply the 3m Perfect-It II by hand, and had good results, but figured tonight I would go for broke (as my hood is going to get fixed and re painted in spring) and try out the orbital buffer we had....and boy am I pleased/happy I did that! The car hadn't been washed since Christmas (been on stands, and in the garage at the house) and hasn't been waxed thoroughly since fall.... So anywho, here are some quick pics....excuse the rock chips in the front (these occur when you beat the **** out of a car on track) and the dent/scratches in the front of the hood (logn story, but lets just say my brother is paying for the fix in spring). I didn't give the car a final wipe down, so there are some traces of dust particles and some wax in the groves that I didn't toothbrush out yet...again, this isn't a photoshoot just to show how sweet this stuff is when used with a buffer.. (I think the pics of me, appropriatly giving the shocker, are the best way to see how shiney/nice the paint is now that I buffed it out...i'm so happy!) http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2936.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2925.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2926.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2927.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2928.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2929.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2930.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2931.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2934.sized.jpg http://www.e-rak.com/cody/albums/alb...2941.sized.jpg |

your car is clean! how much did the jdm bumper + greddy lip cost ya?
i need to relocate my harness soon too haha. |
I also really like how you've built this car. Mods seem really focused and thought out, plus it's good to see the idea that response > power. Keep us posted as you keep building!! It's sooo clean.
|
i think your car had the best impression on me at the 240 meet back in october. very nicely done.
|
goodness thats a clean car, looks really nice, and I agree about the focused approach to mods, keep it up!
