SRT-4 Finally Tuned

so yeah, car was making horrible winding noises one day, added power steering fluid.. la dee dahh 4 weeks later does it again, just so happens i was taking my car to n2mb for

http://pic60.picturetrail.com/VOL167.../225183094.jpg
the fuel return, so i asked n2mb to take a look at the power steering issue
http://pic60.picturetrail.com/VOL167.../225178048.jpg
...boot ripped, shaft exposed, oh noes... (cant wait to try to get this fixed under warranty)
and the icing on the cake
http://pic60.picturetrail.com/VOL167.../225178044.jpg
missing 2 bolts/nuts on the o2->turbine housing (most likely due to me not having motor mounts for such a long time and or normal wear & tear, staten island roads, pot holes etc...)
so yeah... tuning put on hold :(

i'd also like to point out i have the non blingyest engine bay ever... rusted turbo?

mr_eh 01-26-2007 10:30 PM

cmon, not even a neons are peices of junk joke?

Buster 01-27-2007 01:37 AM

dont worry, my turbo is rusted also, i hide it with a heat sheild!

hystericfox 01-27-2007 02:50 AM

I hide it by leaving the hood closed. Your engine bay is still a whole lot cleaner than mine is.

Albertrt-4 01-30-2007 04:17 PM

how did you lose the 2 bolts/nuts to your O2 housing!?

TTsupra911 01-30-2007 04:24 PM

hmm that is wierd though that your bolts are missing. Make sure you guys add some locktite on there next time. But from what it sounds like N2MB installed it for you, which is really wierd that it did that. As for the power steering issue that's really strange and I've never seen that. Let us know waht caused it then. Good luck man

*shrug* it's normal for them to back out and need to be re-tightened, i didnt know that and never bothered to check until we noticed they were missing..

the power steering is being covered under warranty - still no idea on the cause of it... the dealer was very nice even tho i had a ton of stuff done to the car...

theres a huge thread on srtforums about the bolts backing out

Tiny 02-10-2007 12:53 PM

Lock washers help a great deal. Can't really loctite because of the heat, but a nice lockwasher will stop the bolts from backing out.

mr_eh 04-30-2007 07:55 PM

so a few weeks ago i came out for a dyno day and to replace the missing bolts (dont get me started) one snapped in the turbine housing, that got fixed and i finally got dynoed and cleaned my interior

lol... it is what it is, i love it, i hate that first and second are useless on the street, and i really really hate torque steer, but other then that... i wouldnt trade it for anything in the world....
....except for a supra, evo, rx7, skyline, 240sx, =P

cxrock16 04-30-2007 08:21 PM

411whp 93 octane pump piss & 17psi of boost. With one hell of a fuel stumble down low and running in the 10's AFR at WOT! Now that the cars leaned out a bit and most of the fuel issues are resolved I can't wait to get back to the dyno.
