It is turbo.

Renegade_ 01-02-2007 03:47 PM

The reason that it's rated at 102 RPM is probably due to the insane fuel consumption... If they made it idle at something like 700-800 think of the costs....

think of the rotating mass, you REALLY want to see a rod the size of a schoolbus take a "vacation"?

dt98gsr 01-02-2007 04:05 PM

Wow thats pretty crazy. Saw a motor similar to this being assembled on the Discovery channel not to long ago.

redline 01-02-2007 04:11 PM

I would hate to see the fuel tank!

Gorilla Unit 33 01-02-2007 04:13 PM

Maximum torque: 5,608,312 lb/ft at 102rpm

^lol

My dad is a painting contractor.. and he does a lot of the UPenn buildings in Philly.. and in the top floor of one building.. their generator is a GIGANTIC V12 turbo motor. just a bit smaller than that. He showed me it.. the turbo is so massive, that poop just flys out your butt. I'll try and get some photos of it next time we go.

Turbo s60R 01-02-2007 05:50 PM

i wonder what a BOV would sound like on tht thing

Renegade_ 01-02-2007 06:27 PM

The BOV would vent into the atmosphere like always... The side effect of this however is typhoon level winds....

Silver04STi 01-02-2007 06:48 PM

here is a turbo from one of those giant diesels:

"We are gonna balance the new turbo today, ok?"

"Alright, well I can tell you right now we are gonna have to cut a pound of metal out of that part over there...."

That thing is rediculous....

MPowerKai 01-02-2007 10:27 PM

I've seen bigger.......
