Computer graphics card

Well I just tried to load a game on to my PC but it wont let me play it. I guess my graphics card is out of date.

How hard is it to change out the graphics card and what do you recomend to replace it with. I barely play any games on here, but I would like to every once in a while.

Looks like I have an Intel(R) 82865g graphics controller
Adapter RAM 64.00MB
Resolution 1024x768x75 hertz
bits/pixels 16

AGP or PCI?

Silverfc88 12-19-2006 08:06 PM

I guess PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2572*********

This is a Gateway comp

You need to know what kind (if any) graphics specific port you have on your motherboard. You only have an integrated graphics chip on your motherboard now (not very good at all). You first need to know what interface you are dealing with before we can rec a card.

Your pc is probably AGP (the older standard) rather than the newer PCI express footprint. Can you take the case off and snap a pic of your expansion slots so that we can help verify what you are dealing with?

Wow, I should do some cleaning up in there....

Well what game are you trying to pay? You can probably fix this for well under$100.. All those cards listed are probably performing faster than your CPU.

I'm just trying to play Medal of Honor. LOL... But there are other games I like to play also.

Thanks for the suggestions

You could definatly get away with like an ATI 9600/9800 if you want to play Medal of Honor or CS Source. You cant play on full settings, but other things come into play such as memory also.

Look for a 9600/9800 to cost well under $100
