attention ebay users

I copied this off another forum, I had 1 of them on my account. Check yours for sure

"If you guys have eBay accounts, go to your account info and hit preferences. scroll down and check out the third party section. It should be empty unless you have someone on there. I checked mine and had 5 of the sneaky bastards that got on there, don’t know how they got there but they were. you can delete all the scammers by going to preferences, go to third party and click revoke if there are any you don’t want, just go over to the right. just follow the instructions and delete them. Just thought I'd pass it along I was surprised to see unauthorized people in my account."

^Thanks. I had some Kyzuyo name under the third party. Not sure what that was, but didn't look good. Thanks fo rthe heads up.

Those aren't people, they are normally programs like a snipe program you have setup, etc, etc. But, can't be too safe

smoger 12-06-2006 08:57 AM

guys those arent scammers... they're services that you can use outside of ebay. for example if you sign up on an auction manager site, they would be listed there.

now i suppose it is possible that you could be tricked into adding a service with less than desirable intentions to the list, but for most people what's listed there is just fine.

edit: BradC beat me to it

Whatever was just on one of my accounts, was not something I ever authorized or even was asked about. And that happened the night I made some bids. Going on to my other accounts now.

smoger 12-06-2006 09:08 AM

in that case you better change your password because someone else has it

LSHatch 12-06-2006 09:09 AM

Working on all that now. I hate the internet.

InfiniteMotors 12-06-2006 10:23 AM

holy crap I had three names on there too that I've never heard of. Good eye, sniper

Silverfc88 12-06-2006 11:52 AM

Had me scared for a minute. 0 for me, but I'm going to keep a closer eye on it.

MPowerKai 12-06-2006 11:55 AM

mine is clean and no one in a bazillion years would geuss my password mwahahaha

Intercooled T 12-06-2006 12:04 PM

on a more important note, I was almost fooled by a spoof e-mail from supposed 'eBay'...it was from aw-confirm@ebay.com, telling me that my account was suspended and to view information on the suspension, click on the following link....the e-mail was actually pretty good, better than most fake ones, so be on the lookout for those as well...

banana.

cburwell 12-06-2006 12:21 PM

aw-confirmation is a valid E-Bay notification address. Usually the URL of the links in the e-mail are what give it away.

Silverfc88 12-06-2006 12:27 PM

I never click on the links like the one Intercooled T posted up. I always just open another window and go through Ebay to open my account.

james_ls 12-06-2006 12:33 PM

I had three but they were OBVIOUS vendor services.

Andale.

Express Ship.

Something else...

Good passing-on though.

yea, i know, but mass mailers can put ANYTHING as the return address. and yea, the URL is what gave it away :)
