ok, and i said no offense (generally that means take no offense, i.e.: do not become hostile or try to proove yourslef. It was my opinion, and if you dont want to respect it i dont care)

BMS 11-28-2006 07:25 PM

Well practice makes perfect, a lot of practice drifting is hard

ozthunder 11-28-2006 07:35 PM

Yes, it is. Part of me wants to do it, part of me thinks its a gimmick.

(personal opinion)

Maybe we should see you drift fool and tom you know it may happen

kas14slider 11-28-2006 09:01 PM

I don't think calling it a fad is fair, depending on who you are of course. To those people that thought it was cool, tried it, realized they sucked and maybe wrecked their car. They might not like it and think of it as a passing fad. Either you jumped on the bandwagon, tried it, and decided to not get serious about it or instead got good, became obsessed, and started competing in events, etc. There are also people like me who were interested in it before it got popular, and were dediated to the sport long before it became mainstream here in the US. I have japanese drifting clips from the 80's. Over there, those guys were drifting all those 80's cars right after those cars went into production. So I don't think calling something that has been around for over 20 years a fad is correct. And most people who can't wait for it to die either tried it, sucked at it, and thought it was stupid or did not give it a chance at all and thought it was retarded without even realizing how much skill is involved. Personally I respect all forms of racing. Sure, me and my friends make fun of NASCAR and I don't really like drag racing but at least I realize that there is a certain level of skill that goes into every motorsport and I respect those people for doing what they like to do.

Just my 02 cents.

To Evo8kid. I don't know what you are talking about but that was defenitely considered drifting. You know, like when you go out to a parking lot and practice drifting. Now if this was like a video of him just doing huge smokey doughnuts, then I would call it messing around.

And DN_Sileighty, just keep it up, looks like you have a cool spot to mess around. I like how you set up the cones. Hell, come down to our oval and practice all day for free. My friend never drifted before and he got good after coming here 3 times.

thanks man some people just think every body wants to drift b-cuz of some tokyo drift movie

highmilehatch 11-28-2006 09:52 PM

Let me rephrase. The whole US drift scene TO ME is a fad. It will continue to be exploited until there is just nothing left, and everyone will jump on the next cool thing. I won't agree that it is a form of racing whatsoever. There is no judging in competitive racing. I'll agree it takes skill. It's just not my cup of tea. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and when you post something in a public forum, be prepared for public opinion.

uh, highmile hatch is jon frey, he doesnt **** around. Jon and I grew up with a bunch of the guys from Drift Alliance. Before they were your super heros, they were our friends, we used to eat at diners with them, drink beers, build turbo hondas, dsms, and rotaries, so I think if anyone has any clue as to what happened before it was "scene" its Jon.

evomike 11-28-2006 10:51 PM

Oh snap fool what now

Hey man, i agree with you here. As for the video, i liked it, it seems like fun, no not all of it is drifting, some was just oversteer then go but whatever thats what practice is.

I also agree with highmilehatch, dont get worked up over opinion, this is open to everyone, not everyone is gonna think the same.

to sum it up, looks like fun, keep going at it.

Raven18940 11-28-2006 11:17 PM

I just think he's not very good at this drifting thing, keep practicing dude.

ILikeItSideways 11-28-2006 11:26 PM

I'd say thats not too shabby, keep practicing, I'm happy to see you're practicing in an open empty area instead of on public roads. rock on!

What suspension setup do you have?
