Its about to get pricey... OR I just ordered my Hydra

This is gonna be the most spending in 30 days I've done in a few years.

Ordered my hydra today. Shoudl have it in my hands by early next week.

Then, injectors go out, fuel pump goes in, Slowboy GT30-12 goes on, perrin inlet hose and big MAF bolt up, and the Defi's get bought. Now, if I could only find a ripper deal on a set of headers...

Oh, and I may end up buying a laptop primarily for programming the hydra.

I'm guessing this is a subaru thing, but what's a "hydra"? I take it it's a piggyback or standalone? Either way, sounds like you're gonna have some fun

the mike 05-17-2005 09:05 AM

Standalone.

MuddyREX 05-17-2005 09:07 AM

Hope the install goes smoothly, and congrats on the purchase. I haven't met anyone using this system yet, so you'll have to let me see it once you are done.

Actually a Hydra is a nine headed dragon from Greek mythology.

JasterM5 05-17-2005 05:05 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I want to run a dragon!!

The main factor in my getting one is the fact that my neighbor has one. I am also buying the turbo off his car...so I have a pretty good feeling what my car will feel like before actually buying the mods.

That nine headed dragon looks baddass...maybe i should replace the pentagrams with it...that would be some dificult vinyl to cut.

nah.

I am hoping to have it by tuesday of next week, and with any luck it will actually start the car the first time I install it.

I really wanted to get a baseline dyno read out on the access port, but as of sunday night, it won't be mine any more, and I am running all over the next two days. Did criz ever get his car dynoed?

Still looking for that ripper deal on headers.

Cliff, you're getting the perrin modded injectors right? I'm torn between them or PE's... I hear the flow pattern of the modded injectors is uneven...

who knows though right?

Sincere 05-18-2005 09:28 PM

if you dont mind, what did the hydra cost you?

According to multiple tests done by RC Engineering, the flow pattern is more than fine. There are a number of cars making large HP using the injectors, and modifying injectors to flow above original capacity is not anything new. If you are planning on buying new injectors, then just get a set of PE's or similar. If you are considering modding stockers, I see no reason not to. Just plan on sending them to RC to be cleaned and flow tested after modification, and prior to you installing them in your car. As an alternitive, PE will modify injectors as well, though I don't know what the cost is.

errr...you know, it never really came up in conversation. I'm going to assume the standard 1450 for the ecu, plus 350 for the auto tune, as I think the pricing is set, I know I havn't seen anyone advertising deals on them.
