Whats wrong with being emo?
 

all i hear lately, is people on here busting people's balls about being "emo"... now i understand that most "emo" looking people are a bunch of whiney pussies... dudes with long hair and tight pants... crying because their girlfriend left them 5 years ago.. and they want to kill themselves and **** like that... but i mean... i listen to some bands that are considered emo and i really like their music... i like the lyrics... i would sometimes go as far as to call myself emo... but by looking at me you wouldnt be able to tell... i just dont get the negative conotation that is carried with the word emo... why not just call that person a bitch... cause most of the time they are... lets hear your opinion... this oughta be interesting.

hahaha thats funny... ill give you the fact that most emo bands cry like babies... but come on... give the few of us who arent that way some credit.

No, I don't like sentences. I actually prefer to express my concern with a serious of run-on's and ellipses.

They cut themselves and bleed all over stuff.

I have no problem with 'emo' people until they start pushing their values on me. I used to work on the WCU radio station and it was run by a very emo senior student. He used to give everyone crap if they played any popular or mass marketed music because it fuels the corporate rape of modern art in music. Any of the emo people that I have met purposely shun any type of music that is on MTV or VH1, rap, modern rock etc etc etc. Anyone that makes up their mind about a type of music or artist before even listening to it is full of bs IMO. Yes MTV plays a lot of crap again IMO, but some of it is catchy and fun to listen to too. I like music that appeals to me, no matter what the genre or pop level. I like a good amount of music that could be considered EMO too, for the same reason, it sounds good to me. I also like bands like Metallica and U2, RHCP, Rush, and LOT of rap. Emo people won't even give bands like that a chance because they have preconcieved notions about popular music.

Emo people are usually shortsighted on a lot of issues like this, and that annoys me. Its the same with movies, politics, and anything else contraversial that you can think of.

If a self-proclaimed emo person is cool with letting me listen to what I want to listen to...then I have no problem with them. Its the preachyness that gets really irritating and the vast majority of emo people have no idea what they are even talking about, they just want attention for being different.

A LOT of emo people are what I consider modern hippies

EMO = The "new Glam Metal" The lyrics tend to be a bit on the sappy/cheesy side i.e. "the stars will cry the blackest tears tonight"... But hey..maybe i'm just old... :)

i wouldnt call those people emo tho... i would call them douchebags... but that was very well said aaron... i am one of the few people you CAN NOT pin into one type of music... i listen to absolutely everything and love it.
