AP Tuning - Comments/Issues?

Well, the time has come for me to chip the GTI. AP Tuning is the closest APR dealer to me (2 hours to Lebanon, PA) and I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. Interested to see if they're friendly and do quality work. Thanks for your feedback. :)

AWE only does GIAC I think.
But they do have a great rep.

Yeah, I do know about AWE and they are only GIAC, though I've definitely considered that as an option as well. They have the flashloader out now for GIAC too so that's nice . I have the AWE boost gauge on order actually, and I'll be getting AWE's 200cell downpipe in a few months hopefully, so I'll be down there for that from them.

If I dont hear anything about from AP Tuning maybe i'll just decide to go with GIAC and have em do it when i'm down there.

Take a ride there just to check out the new 997 tt they just got the other day. Can't wait to see what they have in store for that car.

What kind of #'s are you hoping for with the dp's and the flash?

I'm not looking for crazy numbers, but the consensus for those two mods seems to be 215-220whp & 245-255wtq...so that's what 250-255hp & 290-300hp at the crank roughly. That should be plenty for this FWD car and daily driver.

VW has already underrated the 2.0 FSI Turbo motor a little bit. Most cars stock are putting out around 215 at the crank according to the dynos that I've seen.

I think I may have seen you the other day crossing the norry bridge.

What time? I go to work in Port Trevorton and then home Mon-Fri around 7:50 to 8:10am and then again like 5:10-5:30pm. Were you in the SRT? I'm usually always bored stupid around here after work though, lol.

EDIT: That wouldnt be the norry bridge though. Hmm. I was up to metzer VW the other day after work though. Do you mean the bridge from Shamokin Dam to Norry? Or the one from Norry to Sunbury?

blu4door 08-10-2006 02:35 PM

I wasn't in my car.
I meant the bridge on Rt.11 from norry to shamokin dam. It might not have been there though. It may have been on the strip. Probably sometime in the evening 4pm-8 or 9pm. I can't remember, I just remember seeing the front end of your car. ( I looked in your gallery) I have a bad memory.

dwl137 08-10-2006 03:14 PM

Haha, very well could have been me. i come down through the strip mon-fri between 5 & 5:30 from work, and I'm over there for other stuff too quite a bit, cause Sunbury has jack for things to do or stores to get stuff at. I also havent seen another white 06 GTI yet around here.

I have heard good things about APTuning.

But I guess it really comes down which Software you want to run.

Revo, GIAC, or APR. Do the research on those. Then go to H20 in OCMD, and get chipped. :)

dwl137 08-10-2006 04:31 PM

i've researched all 3 extensively so I know i'd go with either APR or GIAC. I like APR's ability to switch between stock and 93 octane using the cruise control, for dealer visits and such. As far as H20, i dont forsee myself making it to that unfortunatly, not to mention that would be a long drive by myself, lol. Revo i've ruled out though, even though it is ex APR employees.
