do you think Isreal is justified?
Discuss... I need something to pass the time at work, I think this coud be an interestign topic.
|
i think they are 100% justified. In their case a best defense is a good offense and even while dominating their oppositions they offer a cease fire by way of NATO
|
Basically ifyour not familiar with a little bit of history ill will you in, Hezbollah used to capture israeli soldiers and israel would always make trades for them back. Israel believes to get all israeli back and they never used force. They would exchange for the soldiers. This is the first time soldiers were captured and they used force. they are justified everyday citizens in israel are killed from suicide bombs and the lebonese are complaining when israel kills a couple in atime of war. That is rediculous. Israel loses innocent lives everyday and no one else cares. They have everyright to destroy hezballa (sp?)

I understand this but its more complicated than that. Yes, Hezbola sends suicide bombers into isreal and innocent civilins are killed. But isreal also, before this war started, in the years since they left lebanon, has sent around 6 thousand missles into lebanon targeting leaders and strong holds just as they did in Gaza and the west bank. These rockets didnt always hit their targets and even when they did civilians were still injured or killed sometimes. I understand that Isreal is trying to rid lebanon of terrorists but I dont felits that simple. They say they are targeting Hezbola, but hezbola isnt just a militant regime, its also a political party which a majority of Lebanon supports. It would be the same as if canada started bombing america and killing civilians trying to take out the Democrats because the E.L.F. came in and blew up a car dealership or a coal power plant. Would america stand by and let this happen, no chance. |
I'll tell you what...
I don't like you and think you should die, so let me throw rocks at you, or just keep shooting you with a pellet gun for a couple years (as hard as I can, aimed at your head or groin); I'm also allowed to borrow your mother/sister whenever I want and not give them back, and the only rule is that you aren't allowed to do anything in retaliation. Let me know what you think... |

I say i can punch you in the face or kick you in the balls. Maybe cut those balls off and break all your fingers so you cant use them to hold a rock. But would I be justified in killing you and your mother and friends who have nothing to do with it? |
Israel has the right to defend themselves against these "children" who think that if they capture a couple of Isreali soldiers they can have their terrorist comrades realesed from isreali prisons.
However, they should be more careful when selecting targets to make sure no innocent civilians are killed. People think that the radical Muslim groups (whether it be Hamas or Hezbolla) hate isreal. And while they do, I think that the hatred is mutual (hence isreal's apparent lack of care when selecting targets to avoid collateral) damage. Either way, the world will end in 2012 and this discussion won't matter then. |
After what they indured, they basically have a free pass to do anything they want to.

I believe they are totally justified. Try being a jew populous totally surrounded by extreme muslims. I believe that its basically a pent up anger that they are unleashing. Its gonna get ugly if Iran and Syria decide to get full fledged in this ordeal. Everyone can easily see that hezbolla (sp?) is a puppet for Iran. Iran is openly shipping weapons to hezbolla via Lebanon and Syria. I dont blame Bush and Blair for not backing a cease fire! Fck hezbolla, let the death toll rise! And god forbid they bomb Tel Aviv, they will unleash a world of hurt! If Iran gets involved with bombings etc., It's REALLY on. We'll be over there like flies on dogsht.
I am really really digging the way that Israel is handeling this whole deal. They are like a "little America", hahaha. I support them 100%. I just hope they can do enough damage to get hezbolla to totally back down, or we could very well be facing WWIII.......and thats no joke, think about it. P.S. If hezbollah decides to, and successfully, lays a big smack down on Tel Aviv, then i say straight to Mecca it is...................with the big bombs......at prayer time!     |
Israel could nuke Hezbola into the stoneage, they're trying to handle in the best way though. Hezbola has got nerve to make a 'treaty'. They're only making a 'treaty' cause they know they're getting their asses kicked!

We've been discussing this in the Saab 9-2X forum...here's an interesting (I think) point of view by Dennis Miller:
"A brief overview of the situation is always valuable, so as a service to all Americans who still don't get it, I now offer you the story of the Middle East in just a few paragraphs, which is all you really need. Here we go: The Palestinians want their own country. There's just one thing about that: There are no Palestinians. It's a made up word. Israel was called Palestine for two thousand years. Like "Wiccan," "Palestinian" sounds ancient, but is really a modern invention. Before the Israelis won the land in the 1967 war, Gaza was owned by Egypt, the West Bank was owned by Jordan, and there were no "Palestinians." As soon as the Jews took over and started growing oranges as big as basketballs, what do you know, say hello to the "Palestinians," weeping for their deep bond with their lost "land" and "nation." So for the sake of honesty, let's not use the word "Palestinian" anymore to describe these delightful folks, who dance for joy at our deaths, until someone points out they're being taped. Instead, let's call them what they are: "Other Arabs Who Can't Accomplish Anything In Life And Would Rather Wrap Themselves In The Seductive Melodrama Of Eternal Struggle And Death." I know that's a bit unwieldy to expect to see on CNN. How about this, then: "Adjacent Jew-Haters." Okay, so the Adjacent Jew-Haters want their own country. Oops, just one more thing. No, they don't. They could've had their own country any time in the last thirty years, especially two years ago at Camp David, but if you have your own country, you have to have traffic lights and garbage trucks and Chambers of Commerce, and, worse, you actually have to figure out some way to make a living. That's no fun. No, they want what all the other Jew-Haters in the region want: Israel. They also want a big pile of dead Jews, of course - that's where the real fun is -- but mostly they want Israel. Why? For one thing, trying to destroy Israel - or "The Zionist Entity", as their textbooks call it - for the last fifty years has allowed the rulers of Arab countries to divert the attention of their own people away from the fact that they're the blue-ribbon most illiterate, poorest, and tribally backward on God's Earth, and if you've ever been around God's Earth . . . you know that's really saying something. It makes me roll my eyes every time one of our pundits waxes poetic about the great history and culture of the Muslim Middle East. Unless I'm missing something, the Arabs haven't given anything to the world since Algebra, and, by the way, thanks a hell of a lot for that one. Chew this around & spit it out: 500 million Arabs; 5 million Jews. Think of all the Arab countries as a football field, and Israel as a pack of matches sitting in the middle of it. And now these same folks swear that, if Israel gives them half of that pack of matches, everyone will be pals. Really? Wow, what neat news. Hey, but what about the string of wars to obliterate the tiny country and the constant din of rabid blood oaths to drive every Jew into the sea? Oh, that? We were just kidding. My friend Kevin Rooney made a gorgeous point the other day: Just reverse the numbers. Imagine 500 million Jews and 5 million Arabs. I was stunned at the simple brilliance of it. Can anyone picture the Jews strapping belts of razor blades and dynamite to themselves? Of course not. Or marshaling every fiber and force at their disposal for generations to drive a tiny Arab State into the sea? Nonsense. Or dancing for joy at the murder of innocents? Impossible. Or spreading and believing horrible lies about the Arabs baking their bread with the blood of children? Disgusting. No, as you know, left to themselves in a world of peace, the worst Jews would ever do to people is debate them to death. Mr. Bush, God bless him, is walking a tightrope. I understand that, with vital operations in Iraq and others, it's in our interest, as Americans, to try to stabilize our Arab allies as much as possible, and, after all, that can't be much harder than stabilizing a roomful of super models who've just had their drugs taken away. However, in any big-picture strategy, there's always a danger of losing moral weight. We've already lost some. After September 11th, our president told us and the world he was going to root out all terrorists and the countries that supported them. Beautiful. Then the Israelis, after months and months of having the equivalent of an Oklahoma City every week (and then every day), start to do the same thing we did, and we tell them to show restraint. If America were being attacked with an Oklahoma City every day, we would all very shortly be screaming for the administration to just be done with it and kill everything south of the Mediterranean and East of the Jordan." |
Are the justified? Yes.
Could they do it with a little more finesse? Yes. Do I want Hezbollah gone? In their current form as a "terrorist faction", yes. However, hezbollah does in fact contribute financially to many things, that aspect is positive although the fact that they incited war is another story. |
Hezbollah contributes to the Lebanese government - in fact, it's been proven that Lebanese National Army soldiers used their radar systems for Hezbollah, so they could accurately strike Israeli targets. This isn't just about Hezbollah as some fringe group - this is about the entire country of Lebanon lining up to support Hezbollah, with Iran and Syria playing the backfield, like a blocking running back or halfback.
I foresee Iran and Syria immersed in this conflict within a week or two - Iran's leader has publicly called for the complete and total annihilation of Israel, and the US, so I'm thinking we need to be "proactive" instead of "reactive". |
Info about Hezbolla:
It is a party in the Lebanese government which hold several seats. While it does have a military wing, it also has a social aid program which provides health care and education to Lebanese Hezbolla supporters. It also has a PR wing which is where the major media outlets have been getting some info about Hebzolla. This PR wing has currently been providing "tours" of the bombed out Lebanon to the media. |
This "war" won't end with suicide bombings, invasions, or air raids. The ONLY thing that will end this is something huge, for arguements sake lets say a nuke. As long as lebanon supports hezbollah, i consider them one in the same, complete annihilation is the only way they will learn not to offer people ice cream and blow them up. You say its tragic, well that is what war is. Do i think this is how things will happen? No, this petty warfare will go on until a cease fire is reached in seven months, and lays dorment for three years
|
If the US was not invovled i would feel better with the "war". But since we fund their every move, provide them with money, guns, planes, bombs, etc i have a problem with how it is being carried out.
But off the soap box, yes isreal is justified in what they are doing, i just wish it was on their dime. |
lol Hez balla
Nice. Isreal is 110% justified to defend its population against terrorists. Look at our freakin country. We were the victims of a terror act 5 years ago and we a$$ raped a freaking government over it (Iraq). Isreal is just streching its legs. Sort of like the biggest kid on the block who would go around with his bat beating the sh!t out of the punks on the block every few weeks just so everyone remembered who was in charge. Or at least, thats how it worked were I grew up in Jersey :) |

Thats the point, Syria and Iran could if they wanted to. If Canada and Mexico wanted they could crush the US. Its a numbers game yo :)
No one wants a war over there except for hezbola (sp?). By itself, Isreal has one of the best, if not the best equiped fighting force in the middle east. Lets not even discuss the Isreali policy on drafting :) In the end, If the Queen had balls she'd be king. |
