Yahoo Widgets.. awesome!
 

so i know its nothing new but i just downloaded yahoo widgets. i never did before because my only other widget experience were the ones on my mac at work, and like everything on a mac, i was less than thrilled about how memory hungry they were and how badly they performed in general. (ie,.. waiting 15-20 seconds before i can use the calculator because the weather has to query a website... WTF!)

so anyway.. i got yahoo widgets tonight to try out the sirius widget and WOW. this is awesome. SO SO SO SO much better than Dashboard. widgets have LITTLE TO NO lag in querying data from the web, and the ones that need a net connection don't freeze the ones that don't. also, im blown away by the amount that you can find.

so the morals of this story?

pc > mac(as usual)
sirius widget > sirius.com player(seriously.. if you listen online you NEED the widget!)

and lastly... GET Yahoo Widget Engine!

does anyone have any fav. widgets theyd like to recommend? so far im using sirius, nibble time, google calculator, and picture frame

I have the weather widget and during the school year have a to-do list widget. They're awesome! I was skeptical of the yahoo stuff but this ends up being pretty good.

Wow that is pretty friggin cool.

Like google desktop...but nicer.

Mac is always greater then pc.

dont get me wrong,.. im grateful for macs. if they didnt break all the time i wouldnt have as much opportunity for overtime at work:thumbup:

i got a 10 year old G3 at home, thing runs like a champ. im gonna check out the widgets

lol.. i was mostly referring to OSX based macs. OS9 is much easier on memory and doesnt seem to have the preference file issues that OSX has. also, maybe they used better hardware back then because the ones we have here are breaking constantly. i actually have a g3 imac at home sitting in the closet. i think im gonna put yellow dog on it and at least have a reason to play with it

what does the sirius widget do and where can i find it?

its on the widgets homepage.. if you type sirius into the search box youll find it.

its an interface to the online sirius player but much better. it looks just like a real sirius receiver and has all the same features.. presets, song seek, artist seek, and more. plus you dont have to enter a captcha(or your password, even) everytime you use it :)
