If I had a RWD I would be dead and in a ditch... there's something about my fwd that keeps me safe. Never drove a AWD yet, maybe something for the future.

Erik 07-10-2006 02:57 PM

i havent drove an awd yet either...

i agree with the safe part, i see where your coming from

KrautFed20V 07-10-2006 03:03 PM

i have a fwd... and drive a AWD.................well when i'm allowed to anyhow... yeah if i owned one i definetly would have done what karl did to his car like 30 times by now.

i think RWD is safer then FWD.

when you lost traction in RWD, at least you still have control of the wheels that steer the vehicle

when you lose traction in a FWD vehicle, the steering wheels have no traction either, so you basically go wherever the car decides

I love fwd! I took my friends 320whp LS turbo del sol out for a ride and put it to the floor and the car just torque steers like a mother****er.

Sign me up for a boosted FWD honda!

i don't find this to be true, fwd if you lose traction, you can still guide it to where you need to go... depending on the circumstance, you just steer the wheel more and stomp on the gas.

Well this is an age old debate that will never be answered...

I have found in my case, it is harder to become out of control with a FWD than RWD in the first place. Usually, atleast in my experience, all you need to do to recover a FWD out of control situation is let off the gas. I have scared myself with RWD way too man times. Maybe becasue the RWD cars had way more power than the FWD cars I have driven.

I guess that is why AWD was developed. You get the best of both worlds when it comes to traction and control situations. One day I will get the chance to drive AWD and see what all you guys are nutz over.

Go to a suby dealership, test drive an Impreza. It's fun :)

rwd ftw..ive lost control rwd and let off the throttle and recovered. guess it depends not only on drivetrain but driver also. rwd ftl in the snow. fwd isnt to bad. neither is awd. but ive seen them all get stuck in the snow.

it doesnt matter how well you can start or turn in the snow, its how well you can regain control :)

if you cant start you have no control:mrgreen:

Drive train is a personal preference.

Control is the name of the game: being able to correct/over/understeer conditions & manage weight/secondary weight transfer are all key.
