i was sitting at a gas station cop came up and gave me a ticket said i was driving careless down the road, my car was off keys out he came up to me without his lights on, can he do this and give me a ticket?? thanks for any help

How long had you been sitting there?

Take it to court, tell the judge that you were out of the car, the car was off, and that you were sitting there for a while. He will mostly likely drop or reduce your fine and/or points.

i was there for about 2 mins before the cop rolled up

Yeah right. Your word against the cops, the cop will win 99.99% of the time.

I've been there. Get a lawyer and get it knocked down.

I'm agreeing with Blaise on this one :eek: , Obviously there is more to the story but it'll come down to whose word is stronger, which of course you will lose.

Thank you. I'm tired of hearing these guys going on and on about trying to win legal battles in court yourself. I'm starting to doubt they've ever actually been there...

I've won plenty myself... only used a lawyer once for a serious moving violation.

Give us more info man... were you driving fast or anything before? or is it really a bogus ticket?
