88 z31 running help

I just recently got a z31 off a buddy of mine and it was in need of a clutch. I got it cheap enough, replaced the clutch...one thing lead to another and I ended up replacing gaskets from the heads up and a tune up and everything. It runs and drives with the exception of start up and idle.

At first cold start up, it fires then immediately stalls. If I give it gas on start up for a second, this wont happen. Even after this initial hiccup, when it idles, it pops through the exhaust and shakes. you can tell it has a slight misfire. when driving, it is very smooth.

some have said it could be as simple as a faulty MAF. I am hoping there are some people on here that are good with theses cars because they have many different sensors that all determine how the car runs. Im new to these VG motors and for a newby they are somewhat complicated and the design makes them a pain to work on. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
