What would you choose? Low Milage Z06 or brand new Grand Sport?

I traded my 09 Corvette Z51 in on a 2011 BMW 335xi about a year ago. Recently have been wanting to get back into a Vette. Finally the opportunity has arisen and a fellow E90post member acquired my lease. It's officially gone. So....

Now I'm looking at 2008-Up Z06's with less than 15,000 miles and brand new factory fresh Corvette Grand Sports. Which would you choose?

6.2 L92 over the LS7. Z06 is nice, but the LS3 is a great platform for huge power as well

Z06. So good you don't have to mod.

C6Z06>C5Z06>C6GS>C6 with LS3>C6 with LS2

z06, will help when you want to sell, so you dont take the original owner depreciation

i choose brand new factory fresh Corvette Grand Sports

I defiantly go with the Z06, It sounds to me like you like to switch cars alot too. The Z06 will not lose as much value as a brand new vette.

Scapegoat 08-17-2012 09:43 AM

low mileage used. there is really no difference between a used vette and a new vette, in most occasions b/c they're generally not driven much.

not sure if there is any motor difference between the later z06's and the earlier c6 z06's though, but i'd go for newer.

Z06!!! I would love to own one if I could.... prob wait until the C7s come out first though

I'd choose search on Google, test drive the car, choose which car you like.

i think it depends if you want a warranty or not.

DaBombDiggidy 08-17-2012 03:53 PM

if you are looking to keep it stock z06.

if you want to mod the ls3 is a much better platform because the z06 cylinder walls are much thinner.

Z06 definitely.

ITSTOCK 08-17-2012 07:16 PM

Why a 2008 up? Is the upgraded trans your only issue? The interior really isn't that much of an upgrade over 06/07, so I can't imagine that being a selling point. Or do you just want bluetooth?

Either way, if I wanted a vert, I'd probably skip the grand sport and just get a normal C6. If having a vert isn't of importance, I'd still get a used Z06 over the grand sport.

Scapegoat 08-17-2012 09:14 PM

if its really between a z06 and a GS... well... don't get a GS. If you're going to get a GS, get a coupe instead. cheaper, and anything on the GS you'd want is most likely cheaper to add to a coupe than paying dealership costs.

but if you want new, check out corvetteforum.com. there are often some dealership promoting their stock and offer really low prices, thousands less than msrp.

A friend got a used Z06 in October and I love it. And if he does decides to trade or sell again it won't drop much more in value. And there's no need to mod... I've driven it... the Z06 is plenty fast. I'd say Z06.

Can you explain "won't drop much more in value"? :bigeek:

Z06. Don't take the first owner hit on deprecation and there isnt much of a difference between the 06/07 and the 08s. The only time years matter is if you're looking for the Z07 performance package (Magnetic ride, carbon ceramics, pilot sport cup tires, ect.). I was going to buy a C6 Z06 this summer but have held off because of the upcoming C7 release. C6's will go from 40-45 to probably around 35k with low miles.

Good luck!

He purchased the car for $41,000 and the biggest hit in depreciation has already occurred.
