FRS - BRZ spotted?

hey so Ive been wondering how many people spotted the BRZ or FRS on the streets yet? I havent seen one driving, tho i did check out the FRS at a Toyota dealer. I love it, looks 200 times better in person.. but still, is it just a "dream car" or are people really buying them?

There's a BRZ at the Subaru dealership near me in Wilmington DE - some guy apparently ordered it with a ton of extras and had to back out last minute due to loosing his job. (so the story goes)

I've seen an FRS roaming around Elsmere

I work at Becker Subaru in Allentown and they have sold at least 4 already. I actaully got to drive one around the lot.

I saw a FR-S in Butler, NJ yesterday. Guy was driving it like most BMW drivers around here drive. IE: A tool

jpalamar 07-15-2012 05:27 PM

Who cares.

DaveSTi 07-15-2012 06:08 PM

I'd love to drive one. Toyed with the idea of buying one, but I'd grow bored with the lack of power.

Bubba Ho-Tep 07-15-2012 06:13 PM

no power = no fun. :(

OutToWinPAHC 07-15-2012 06:31 PM

Stock cars being spotted, dont get the hype unless they are exotics

This.

Yeah I mean they are sweet looking and all but the price and lack of power is not

amit 07-15-2012 09:46 PM

Unless you only drive on the highway, you will never get bored of this car.

I'm really confused when people complain about the lack of power. How often do you go fast in a straight line? Because this car sure as hell never feels slow in the turns.

I guess a good way to look at it is my 5 series with around 325hp (with a 6MT) and it was fun and very fast in a line but it was never fun to drive because you couldn't safely push it to the limit on anything but a straight road. Although the BRZ has 125 less hp, it weighs 1000 pounds less and has a LSD...Add to that the fact that you sit way down low in the BRZ, it feels like a proper drivers car. Everything else feels like a boat after driving the BRZ.

Some people can't seem to figure out the justification for the price and I can assure you that the engineering involved in it really makes up for it. They definitely had their work cut out for them when building this car. Maybe I'm just backwards because I keep getting bored WITH power. High power cars are great fun when you're on a long highway commute but that's the only time they can be enjoyable on the road. I can have fun in my car while going to the grocery store long as I have some good back road twisties on the way.

Hit me up if you're in the local area and wanna check out what the cars all about.

After the apex.

Interestingly enough a lot of the pre-production reviews were saying how the car handled like something out of BMW's M division of yesteryear.

I'll let you know when I find a turn that my BRZ is slower than my "MOAR POWAAH" BMW through.

Go for a ride in a BRZ/FRS if you can, if you like FR's (which you must), you're gonna like it.

That seems to be the benchmark for an FR. I do want to take one for a test drive through some turns. I imagine the steering may be a little quicker, the car easier to toss around a little bit due to the weight difference and for the grip to be a little less than my M (275's out back). The balance should be comparable (it's 50/50, right?).

It's a great package and one I'd definitely consider buying if I didn't already have the M. The power would bug me though, because while I'm not doing Gymkhanas on the street, you better believe I use all 332 horses from time to time :)

I think the no soul thing really goes back to my other post about the effect of technology on cars. My Evo X had no soul whatsoever, whereas the STi definitely did in spades. It's a hard thing to explain...you either understand the feeling or you don't.

schaffer 07-16-2012 12:36 AM

i really don't see how you couldnt have fun in a frs/brz,then again i love corners and never had anything fast in a straight line.

said nobody after driving the FR-S/BR-Z

Rarytas 07-16-2012 02:24 AM

wow.. so a lot of response to my thread. I posted this because i saw the FRS at a Toyota dealership on Rt. 22 Greenbrook, NJ. and the guy quoted me 440-430 monthly payment, 2k down, on a 36 month lease... thats... A LOT...

They DIDNT let me test drive it, "theres a huge demand for this car, so we want to keep the miles down" & "there's a 6 week waiting period when you order it"

I think the cars an AWESOME build. the front wheel wells are half complete with only the shock towers built over the wheel well. I belive its been designed ground up to be a track car. No doubt. Its definitely an awesome car. I want to drive it, I want to own it. and as for these people that say, NOT ENOUGH POWA! well please....... EVERY car you drive for long enough you get bored of power. I had a v8 ej207/vf37 STi swapped GC8, **** was FAST. but after 1 & a half months, it was slow and i said the "DRAMA" (douche from video) of the car was gone coz i was used to it.

Take note.. (im a business major) toyota designed most of the car 20% subaru 80% Toyota............... toyota owns scion.................... scions market was built on "modifying" your car.............................. thus, the FRS, BRZ is supposed to be modified, (coils, forced induction, aero) to perform its best or live up to its hype. It was a business decision to not make it 400 hp out of the dealer coz, thank your green hippies, the board wouldnt approve a mid income consumer car that does ****ty MPG in 2012 coz the stats say... PEOPLE WANT GOOD MPG. u want it fast... swap a 2jz in ur FRS and ull have the best car. period.

i wrote a lot, but read it. tis worth it.

I couldn't see myself ever becoming bored with the frs/brz,i love to carve corners.

Im sure once i get my wrx ill get bored with it. Ive gotten bored with every car and truck i've had. Then again they were all slow and handled like ****.
