My car officially sucks, help please!

I got a new exhaust today, Blitz Nur spec R which is 80mm piping compared to my 75mm piping on my previous Hks carbon ti. So I driver the car, its super loud as expected but...here is the thing the ****ing car is slow as ****, is it because I am not tuned, or what? If anyone has knowledgeable info let me know, if not ill get rid of this and buy somethin else.

D

did you do anything else aside from swap the exhaust?

D Money 04-04-2006 11:11 PM

Yup that's it, just swapped exhausts and it is much slower, it bogs in 2nd and is just a peice of ****, I am so ****ing pissed.

teh DIRT 04-04-2006 11:13 PM

did you get just the catback? turboback?

D Money 04-04-2006 11:14 PM

Just changed the cat-back, the only difference is the piping size is 5mm bigger and I think the resonator less restrictive.

teh DIRT 04-04-2006 11:16 PM

weird. yeah totally shouldnt be that much of a change. Id look over everything and make sure its all peachy. check your 02 sensor and make sure its plugged in and what not.

xEJ20x 04-04-2006 11:17 PM

Less restriction would cause the turbo to hit boost threshold alot later.

D Money 04-04-2006 11:18 PM

It is still plugged in, we didn't touch the down pipe, just swapped catbacks. It's my fault for swappin, now I will just have to buy another catback and waste another $700.

D Money 04-04-2006 11:18 PM

BTW Pete, when you want to buy the downpipe?

teh DIRT 04-04-2006 11:19 PM

i really wont believe that a 5mm difference did this. i guess the less restrictive resonator plays a role too. still doesnt add up

Changing the piping and lacking a tune will do quite a bit, Pete.

teh DIRT 04-04-2006 11:29 PM

5mm though, in the catback.

Vypurr 04-04-2006 11:35 PM

Is it possible that your ECU threw an overboost code and put itself in Limp Mode to protect the engine? That extra flow in the exhaust could cause your turbo to overboost thus throwing the code in the ECU!

teh DIRT 04-04-2006 11:39 PM

the CEL would pop up. unless he disabled it?

D Money 04-04-2006 11:43 PM

Nah, boost is the same, it still moves don't get me wrong but it just kicks in at a later rpm, I dunno it may be in my head too. Um, I am gettin a tune with a new turbo and what not, hopefully that does the trick.

wrxman60 04-05-2006 12:45 AM

well i dunno even though it is only a 5mm difference, doesnt there have to be a certain restriction so that there will be back pressure on the system, thus having less lag for the turbo?

TROLL 04-05-2006 01:04 AM

why not mention what i suggested via aim?

because you told me you disconnected the ecu yesterday, i told you that it probably reset itself. what that means is that the ignition advance multiplier has reset as well and is in the safest (slowest) mode instead of probably the most aggressive mode that it was in before the reset...

bingo.

RyanG 04-05-2006 01:51 AM

just like TROLL said. try the "shiv" re-learn. or just drive for a few days . the ECU is in relearn mode. its gonna take a bit.

On Sale 04-05-2006 02:29 AM

^^^ i hate "relearn" mode. so annoying.

My Nurspec never caused me any problems except tickets.
