Karting.. WOW Talk About Addicting...

I'm sure most of us have done "family" go-karts and what not over the years. I know I have and really enjoyed it. For a portion of my buddies bachelor party weekend we went to the Lehigh Valley Grand Prix in Allentown, PA - link here:
http://www.lehighvalleygrandprix.com/

What an incredible time. For those who have not tried faster karts like this, I 100% recommend you try it! My buddy karts professionally and said LVGP is actually a great place to go and learn as well. Here's a video I took using my GoPro Hero 2, mounted on my helmet. I used a post production image stabilizer to get rid of some shake:

You don't have to watch the full video, but I just wanted those who have never done this before to check it out. There seem to be 4 "higher level" karting locations in the general area for those interested:

NJMP in Millville, NJ: http://www.njmp.com/racing/karting/a...ew-jersey.html

Arnolds in Phoenixville, PA: http://arnoldsfamilyfuncenter.com/

Mid Atlantic Grand Prix in New Castle, DE: http://www.midatlanticgp.com/

I'm definately going to have to check this out! I remember going to Arnolds before with people off here.

There used to be a crappy karting place in the Downingtown/Thorndale area. They had a track set up with semi fast, but beat up carts, and then they had a small track inside that one, which were those midget racers. You needed a drivers license to drive those ones, but they would throw soapy water all over the track so that the karts would get sideways. It was really fun.

Gotcha. If I left after work I wouldn't get up there 'til 8:30 or so. Would be a waste I think. They need to do something on Sundays!

I go to Mid Atlantic GP all the time. Tuesday nights they have endurance races where you get 40 laps. If you see 'Cole Trickle' on the leaderboards you know I've been there recently lol.

I know this is out of our area, but if anyone goes to Indianapolis check out http://www.ftik.com/

Best Karting I've ever experienced, and if you go the night before Indy500 you can watch the drivers have at it.

saxon 05-22-2012 01:52 PM

It was about a month ago, the video posted was the same course I ran on

HatchSurfer3 05-22-2012 02:30 PM

This was my best lap:
Ganglo Saxon 28.982 16 0.052 1305 (+29)

I also weigh 210 lbs. I definitely saw weight playing a huge factor in the laps with the guys in our group.

You should scratch Arnold's off that list. Place is horrible.

Lehigh and MA are great....NJMP's F1 is awesome...especially if you get to do the full course.

Road racers take over LVGP

Big_Jim 05-22-2012 05:30 PM

I've been to this place a couple times and it was one hell of a good time

I'm not the biggest fan of indoor karting. I prefer outdoor ones. but i def. agree, either way they're addicting. but outdoors, with bigger engines, and some asphalt makes it wayyyyyy coooler.

rocknrace03 05-22-2012 08:02 PM

lvgp is great, a few guys that i used to race 600 mods with work there full time ( kyle & ryan ) occasionally we get a bunch of our racing buddies together and run position races towards the end of the night! regardless of when i go its a blast. if anyone gets a chance try and get out for "powder night" multiple bottles of baby powder on the floor and its like driving on ice. perfect for slide jobs and "door" slamming passes....although i wouldn't recommend it your first time out, you won't have nearly as much fun.

namdoogwerdna 05-22-2012 09:16 PM

That's awesome Rick! Let me know if you head to LVGP again I'd love to check it out.
