The truth about StreetWars
The people who run it are scum and I think people need to learn the truth. It was a great show, and regardless of being a charity event or not I did enjoy it. But to pretend that your doing this all for charity and lie is disgusting. I know business and there will always be a hidden agenda I understand that. I was wondering why they refused to answer so many questions the last few years and if rumor is correct I would understand why, I hope no one supports them. Either way they have lost their cause and I will never support them again.
Breast Cancer has hit close to alot of people that attend this meet. Some people have lost Moms, Aunts, Cousins and Sisters to this!! The worst part is they want 5000 "likes" then they will release the ...time and date? That just shows us that you guys could careless about Breast Cancer. I know a ton of people that wont be showing at this show this year. My Car Club was looking forward to going to this event this year. After everything is coming to light I won't be associating my club with scammers! GET IT TOGETHER Street Wars!! |
You just associated your club with scammers by making this thread...
and welcome to the real world. |
Do you have any links or sustainable evidence to supply to this? Possibly the "5000 likes" could be due to gaining access to bigger venues, etc.
|
Real world or not it takes scum to even debate doing such a thing.
|
The truth about streetwars is they have a marketing strategy you don't agree with?
I think its dumb too, and counterproductive, but its not the end of the world. They're not scum because of how they manage their Facebook page, right? |
Went to my first Street Wars last year and felt like all I did was pay to go to a meet that was comparable to Sonics. **** I would be tempted to walk around Sonics with a donations jar, at the end of the meet, go across the street get it a money order and send it off to a what ever predetermined charity. signing it from the members of TST.

Eewwwwww car meets. I prefer brobbq's with a side of sliding.

fun thing about car meats is watching the newfags rip and race out of the parking lot, then get pulled. I was known at one time to encourage such acts so i could lulz. but def down for some brobbq's **** might have one the day my motor goes in, you game? |
Street Wars as in Street Wars that originated at Stockton? The sorority that started it while I was there was very legit and they had great help from Kenny that was one of the originators of NJTuners.

I went to streetwars last year, i had a blast. Never saw so many hot cars in my life. I dont know how much i paid to get in but it probably wasnt enough to make me remember. It was nice that it was about breast cancer but that didnt influence my decision to go or not. My mother had breast cancer so dont call me a boobie hater, but really the meet could have benefited chris christies tastycake addiction and i would have gone. I liked the drifting RC cars, the weather was perfect, cool vendors and i bought some ESR shirts. The only thing i didnt like was the idiots blastic reggaton music or whatever, oh and the food was a little overpriced (i know it was supposedly for breast cancer but it was like 2 dollars for a 50c soft pretzel.) So we wound up going to a burger king some 15 minutes away.

WTF is Street Wars anyway? When I Googled it, I got that it is a world wide water gun fight? So like, it could be a wet t-shirt contest in support of breast cancer?

i dont see anything wrong with putting quotas up for information, it builds their audience. they would have released the date/time anyway without it or they wouldn't have anyone showing up. now if they were taking more then operational costs before donating the money to charity, that would be something to gripe about. This excludes information on who they donate the money to. If its an actual breast cancer research/support program or an awareness scam is another topic to debate.

Respect the new thread button.

If they truly raised $57k like they're banner says on FB, then i'm not seeing the issue. You may not agree with the way they go about it, but in the end, they're getting the attention they need to draw the cars in and the end result is a nice chunk of money raised. **Unless i'm missing something**

But there is no proof that it has or has not been donated. You can't jump to a conclusion until you actually know the information. The organizer being a shady person is not a reason to believe that the entire thing is a scam. I know Jason and believe him but I would like to see the other side of the story before this gets out of hand.
Also, shameless plug, come to the University of Maryland College Park Tuning spring meet instead. April 29th just outside of DC. Admission is usually $1, maybe $2 this year or a can of food, everything goes to a local food pantry. |
Maybe they're holding out on releasing the date to drive up the price on SR20's.
......A couple of Nissan SR20's would pull a premium one week before street wars. http://media.screened.com/uploads/0/...h13m01s147.jpg |

You can either choose to support them or not. I happen to agree with Phil and think they are scum. Not too mention that the judging half the time is a joke. If you don't have 50 TVs, a massive custom sound system, lambo doors, and every gaudy accessory available, your chances of winning are slim. Plus every year they are jacking up the prices.
