Audio Amplifier
 

Okay so i bought a new amplifier for my truck. Its a MA audio 800 watt mono block amp. Okay now i have a good ground, i have used it on 3 other amps worked great. I have a circuit breaker less than 4"s off the battery terminal. Everything is wired in great, i mean i ahve never had problems before now. But the problem is, whenever i attach the power wire onto my curcuit breaker it pops the fuses on the amp, sometimes both at the same time. What could cause this to happen. Is it remotely possible the fact that i have 8 gauge wire?. And should i go back over to the AGU style fuse instead of the circuit breaker....

Someone gimme some advice

disconnect your RCA's and then conn. the power wire your RCA's maybe grounding out

never heard of that but ill give it a shot

Don't think it would cause your problem but I would think about going with a bigger gauge wire on that amp, I'd suggest atleast 4awg because it may cause a problem when you crank it.

no i dont even give it ANY volume, The problem persists when i just give the amp power from the battery.

Make sure your negative battery terminal is disconnected, connect all other wires (and set the circut breaker) then reconnect the ground to battery.

what is your amp screwed down on that could be grounding it out also,its hard to tell when it is not in front of me.

Thats wierd man. Don't use a drywall screw maybe. I'll take a look at it tomorrow.

the amp is not mounted. But i made a call down to my friends pro audio shop and he said it sounds like a bad amp

Yeah i know haha, i just got it because of 800 watt digital mono block...But im looking at SPL or audiobahn....but lately audiobahn is like walmart trash..
