I need a driver for OCT 31st!

"October 31st, 2010: F1 New Jersey will hold its first 4 hour endurance race using our 9 horse power Honda powered karts. 18 teams of 2 to 3 drivers per team will race the clock and each other in this test of endurance and stamina. Teams will be responsible for purely driving. Tire changes and fueling will be handled by F1 staff. Racers are in control of their driver changes and pit stops. Racing will take place on the Avenger configuration with practice beginning at 9:00 am. Driver's meeting will follow practice at 10:30 and racing begins promptly at 11:00. Entrants must be at least 15 years of age and 5 feet tall. Pricing is $450 per team. Sign-up by October 27th with F1NJ via email (samaranto@njmp.com) or phone (856-327-7213)."

So pretty much I already have a team signed up which was my cousin and me but he bailed cause he has work obligations which is why his position is now open. Pretty much it'll be $225 for the driver and you will get 2 hours + practice time behind the wheel of the kart. I'm open to whoever as long as you've had previous track time and know your doing out there. I'm going out there to win or be close to it :)

I'm in the 180 lol, no worries. It's the driver mod that counts.

RedBowTies88 10-27-2010 01:59 PM

lol well im actually about 220, 40lbs in a 9 horse car is gonna be a hell of a difference

CrazylilPunk 10-27-2010 03:06 PM

I would love to do this, I'm not really a kart pro, but i'm the mechanic at a local gokart place and have alot of seat time, but I just got my 2nd concussion in the past 3months at atco this past weekend so I am out, free bump buddy.

DocWalt 10-27-2010 07:06 PM

If I had the money, I'd love to do this. Good luck with your search :)

I was there last Friday and did four 10-minutes races on Avenger...and I was sore the next day.

There are bunch of SCCA karters going down for the race so competition will be deep there. Though if they get any of the uber-crappy karts I had their race will be over. In three of the four session I had terrible karts (and the one good one I had had a flat tire so even that wasn't great---but it was fast in a straight line). Check to make sure your kart has brakes that work--you will need them for T1-2 complex--I spun off there twice i the first session until I started to lift way too early to be fast. Also make sure you don't get the kart I had in the second session the pulled hard to the left--awesome for left turns, not so much for rights.

Have fun!

Sounds fun. Wished i had experience under my belt but no luck.

wish i could help you out, i raced at Shellhammers speedway on dirt in 16-20 hp karts on dirt, for about 5 years. i had a lot of feature wins also.. just dont think at 6'3" and 260 i would be to competitive anymore.

I would be down if I wasn't racing with NASA over on thunderbolt. If you get a brake at some point come over there and find the black mustang and say hi. I'm #24 with green taped on numbers.

There's always next year, hopefully theres another one sooner.

Btw I ran an iron man and finished 16 out of the 22 teams. I had to change karts at the first pit stop due to it not running properly, after I got into my second kart I actually started passing some people. At first, I started 4th from the back, it was a randomly chosen which I was cool with cause I knew I could pass some and make it more fun, however at the start, the 2 karts behind me and to my side passed me and left me last all by myself. At first I thought it was a weight issue (180 pounds) so I was like whatever, I paid for it so imma just run the whole thing but after a few laps karts kept passing me and I notice a bigger dude pass me and I think to myself, (hows he going faster then me when he weighs more than me - no offence) so then im thinking its not a weight issue, its the kart. as I noticed that, I then realized I'm only a few laps away from pit stops so I waited it out and when I pit, I asked for a new kart and they got one right away. After running the first lap with the new kart, I then knew there was something deffinetly wrong with the old kart and I kept passing other people while improving my lap times runing 49-50 second laps with old kart, new kart 45-46 second laps (will post time sheets later)

Overall it was a good event and I definitely wished I had someone to run with cause as of today, my left side of my body is still numb after running the 4 hours by myself. Hands were numb that day and next morning but now I'm all good and ready to race again. Oh and they ran out of head restraints so I ran without one. It didn't affect me as bad as my neck is currently fine with no pains. The only thing is I wish I had the second kart from the begining cause I know I could of had a top 10 finish easily. This being my first enduro race, the last couple laps were a b!tch and I didnt run not competitive at all cause my arms were done, the last turn before the straight away became a b!tch lol. Then I saw another teams crew chief with a sign that said 3 minutes left and those three minutes felt like the longest ones in my life haha.

You ran four hours stright!? Holy crap. I did 40 minutes (two 20 minute sessions with a 10 minute break) and was beat. Were there other people running solo? Did you have the same kart for the full four hours, no stoppages?

jcr557 11-04-2010 09:16 PM

It was me and another kid that ran the whole thing alone. He had a good kart and finished 5th. The way they setup the rules, everyone had to pit 4 times mandatory so that's the only break I had. I had the same kart for a little under 3 hours as I started with the crappy kart and switched them in the first pit stop.
