New in PA

I'm usually on NASIOC and Saab92x.com under the same username, but this looks to be a decent local group?

2005 Saab 9-2X Aero
- USDM STi pink springs
- Perrin 2.4" turbo inlet, intercooler hoses, bypass hose
- Cobb Stage 1 - 93 Octane
- A few cheap exterior mods

EDIT: I need 3 posts to post pictures...

The Saab 9-2 X is lovingly known as a Saabaru.

Basically a WRX wagon with subtle sheetmetal changes and MUCH nicer interior. Moonroof & stability control too, I think.
GM had shares of Fuji Heavy Industries.
Subaru got GMs Stabilitrak system now called VDC by Subaru.
GM got a turn key platform to try & boost the Saab lineup.
Pop the hood on one & it says Fuji Heavy Industries on the Id. plate, plus the ignition is on the steering column instead of the middle of the car like a "Real" Saab.
I love the Saabarus when they're modded. You don't expect them to do what they can do.....

SilentlyAmazing 10-21-2010 02:12 PM

Post two to get to the pics...

This...

2005-2006 were the only two years that the 9-2X was made. The Aero trim was the turbocharged engine shared with the WRX, the Linear trim was a 2.5L NA engine shared with the 2.5RS. In '06, the Aero went from 2.0 to 2.5L, but that was also the year that GM sold the Subaru shares, and FHI said no more. So sadly, no more Saabaru... All said, there were only ~10,000 9-2Xs ever made.

A bit dirty...

Old pic from the front, I've recently added matte black vinyl across the lower center of the bumper, and Plasti-dipped the 'chrome' grille surrounds matte black:

Newer pic from the rear, I added Rallyarmor mudflaps, and the black area around the plate is matte black vinyl that I installed. Pic was to show the new backend.

I've realized that I don't have any recent whole car shots...

Wat.

That's so cool!

PAdutch 10-21-2010 03:47 PM

Yeah, didn't know any of the Sabbaru tail. Guess you learn something everyday. Welcome.

renn 10-21-2010 03:56 PM

love saabaru's, you should get some STi BBS's....that would be dope.

SilentlyAmazing 10-21-2010 04:04 PM

My all-seasons are getting down there. I was thinking of picking up some cheap wheels & decent snows for the winter, and a set of summer wheels & tires in the spring. '04 was the only year the STI had a 5x100 bolt pattern, they switched to 5x114.3 in '06. Silver '04 STI BBS wheels are so hard to find, and they're getting up there in price... But who am I kidding, student loan repayment's started, and I'll probably barely have the cash to replace my current tires in the spring... That's why I've been at Stage 1 for so long...

renn 10-21-2010 04:11 PM

x2 on 04 STi BBS being hard to find. i sold mine, to another STi owner actually. so mine didn't even make it down to the saabaru/wrx/forester community.

i know someone selling 02-03 WRX wheels for real cheap if you're interested.

httrdd 10-21-2010 05:47 PM

I know right... They're also cheaper than a WRX with the same mileage, and they're better equipped. I couldn't say no...
