More to Fast and Furious Then it appears..

So everyone here has seen Fast and The Furious. When it came out everyone loved it, some said they hated it to try to be the kool kid that was a rebel, but on the real they loved it and probably saw it many times. It was a movie that showed the tuner scene... not 100% accurate but it was our big screen debut... Still to this day more fnf movies are made, more and more say they hate it, but yet can quote the movies from their memory without any thought to it... mainly i believe they "hate it" because more ricer's have been born out of the movie and most kids try to play the roles of the fast and furious and think wings, lights and exhaust make you fast.. But i think there is more to the first movie then it appears....

So why did i bring this up you asked... well i downloaded the netflix app for my iphone a while ago and when i was looking at netflix last night to show my friend had good the quality is streaming over the 3g network i saw the movie on my list so i was like wow havent seen it in forever... So as im laying in bed at 10:30 to go to bed (have to be up at 5am everyday lol) i was like i just wanna watch the opening scene up to the race.. well i ended up watching the whole thing... anyway enough of that back to my reason for this post..

I think that movie was more then fast cars, riced out cars, fake power, and cops and bad guys... I think it was trying to show the scene and how everyone would like it to be, but they had to add a plot to it to get the ratings and other people besides tuners to watch.. Cause as I watched i paid more attention to everything that was going on, the actions of the characters etc... I know there is part of everyone on this forum that would loved to live that life, not 100% how the movie went but the parts that were hidden in the background.. but in reality we need to go to work to make money to pay bills and buy parts for our cars and all...

What am i talking bout... Well the team. I'm sure you would love to be with a group of people that you got along with and worked on cars all the time and had some sick machines. People that are like your family where you have home cooked dinner with, go out and about with, and love each other like brothers and sisters and know they will do anything for you... I think that is a big part of the movie that got missed with all the hype. I'm sure some groups of tuners are close like this already

Look at Brian (Paul Walker lol) in the movie.. yea he was undercover cop but take that part away and you have a guy that had no one but his car and was looking to be part of something. He got a chance to prove himself by putting his neck out and helping out Dom. Once he showed that he is willing to help out a stranger he gets invited in to the group for his actions. Some of the members didnt like it, aka Vince, since Brian was the pretty boy that didnt seem to know much and he didnt think deserved to be there. But by the end of it they put there differences aside and were able to work side by side and Brian helps Vince out at the end, showing that even if you dont like someone and dont get along that well people are willing to still help out and save someone.

Brian showed the most change in the movie, basically showing you shouldnt judge a book by its cover or history. He was out to get Dom, He thought he was a real bad guy. Brian got to know him and saw he had a different side to him and was about family and doing what one has to do to survive, yea Dom was still mixed up in **** with robbing trucks and all... And by the end when it came down to Brian seeing that Dom still had a bad side he also knew everything else that Dom showed.. Like his caring side and the fact he was sorry for what he did to that guy and seems to regret it. So when it came down to it he felt as part of Dom's family and gave him the keys to get away and not go back to prison where it appears Dom probably had a bad experience there, but who wouldnt lol.

It also showed the bad effects of street racing... didnt go far into it but at the end when Dom and Brian thought they were good and clear Dom ends up hitting the truck and flipping the car... thank god for the roll cage or he is done for... who knows how the trucker made out... Showed that the police wont tolerate the racing and organized a massive plan to try to take them down.. in real life not the movie they would have barricaded the streets instead of letting the cars drive past them lol. But it did show the good to where you should race off public roads at the track or in the movies case "Race Wars"....

Thats just a few things.. i could go on and on. But i do believe the First movie had some message's in it that was hidden, has some loops hole and all to make it a better plot driven movie but all in all i think it was showing how people will do whatever they can for someone when they care and respect then and are part of a family type group. That people enjoy being part of something and being around others that have the same passions and respect which was throw out many times in the movie from different characters in different ways...

What do you guys think about this... I dont wanna hear its a ricer movie, or the cars were junk and unreal, u hate it etc.. etc.. i want your input on the actions of each character and the stories and message that were between the line even if they were small etc.... Some insight to whether there was more to it then just the cars, racings and stealing.. Hell maybe we could even do a breakdown of each character and how they changed and developed over the course of the movie...

I need to start doing more drugs before watching movies. Currently I just watch movies for what they are... entertainment.

One sceen/line I find to be true atleast to me (it was a deleted sceen) its where they are all sitting around i believe it was the supra still on the roll back, talking about the first time they drove, It was Dom that said "in every guys life they have 2 lives one before they start driving and one after"

you're acting like it was actually a quality film. you want something to break down and analyze? try something on any top 100 films of all time list. then we'll talk - i'll type a freakin' book. the fast and the furious and its sequels were just garbage money-makers.

^^^That is very true statement made by dom(vin deisel lol) But I think you are right John, there is alot of corniness in the movie. But there is also alot of underlying parts in the movie that we as tuners and car people see that the normal person watching the movie does not.

"I smell....skanks. Why don't you girls just pack it up before I leave tread marks on your face?"

LMAO. Chick is B.A. :supz:

everyone "hates " the movies. but 98 percent of the people on this dramatic forumn can quote the movies. and im sure 100% of them have seen atleast one of the films. and alot of people will be going to see fast five. its entertainment, exaggerated, just like every other film ever. im going to harrys tomorrow. anybody need anything?

Movies come in two varieties: entertaining movies and crappy movies. Movies can be entertaining by making you laugh, think, question, etc. All of the Fast & Furious movies do that in some way or another.

Sometimes **** can be quite short like 'mini me' after a space walk in jupiter orbit.

I will watch Fast and Furious 10. I know they're corny but I'm a fan of the scene and cars. I can't hang with kids in parking lots anymore but I still meet up with my other Evo buddies and have a few drinks. It always ends up back in the parking lot hanging by the cars and talking ****. Good times for sure.

P.S. It's a shame we'll never see a quality movie about the tuner scene. It would be nice to see some race events, drag, drift, road race, auto-x, dyno days...etc. It would be cool to more like a documentary of it instead of a Hollywood garbage version.

devildog214 09-26-2010 02:56 PM

i totally get what your saying, i wanted that car guy life when i first watched it, and i guess im closer to it. Im always with my friends working on cars, talking about cars, arguing (alot) about cars. And i guess that part was overlooked. I think everyone enjoys the movies, the first time you watched the first race if your heart wasing beating faster than average, theres somethin wrong with you.

Whether or not there was an intended underlying someone took something more from the movie than just a laugh and a gut full of beer and popcorn. Isn't that a win regardless? And personally I think that no matter how much hollywood glamourizes it, we all like to kick back and watch something not entirely truthful. Real life sucks sometimes. The movie may not be real but that doesnt mean you cant enjoy it. Plus I havent heard of any other street racing movies out worthwhile.

At least his grammar is tolerable. He certainly uses a lot of ellipses, which makes for a pretty dramatic argument. I even got some popcorn midway to make the read more enjoyable.
