Post count before selling

Im kinda get sick and im sure other might be as well as people that are joining just to sell. And there post do not help out or are pointless just so they can get to 25.

I think it should still stay 25 post but the post should be checked over an approved before the permission to sell is granted.. Like make sure there not making pointless post or threads saying there bored and need to make post like that for the next 10 minutes so they can place an ad...

Just my opinion... If no one else cares then nevermind...

make them wait a week, or don't give them the option to start a new thread, just post in others.

Got Insulin? 09-24-2010 01:19 PM

We've been discussing this actively in the last few weeks amongst the Staff and we're looking into the possibilities. Unfortunately, the member to mod ratio is very out of proportion so it's really tough to monitor all of the newcomers, plus every other nook in the forums. At this point, if you see somebody spamming for post count, report the post to help us nab them a little quicker.

Thanks!

Damn didnt even know there was a wait between searches. I dont think there is a way cause too many searches at once can probally take down the server or overload it or sumtin. Thats my thought as to why its there.

possibly, but 25seconds is a little overboard and I think i recall them switching servers not long ago to better ones? :cyberguy:

25 seconds is actually not overboard at all. There are plenty of other forums I am on that make you wait 45-60 seconds to search again.

One of the most popular, and largest forum, SVTPerformance makes you wait 45 seconds.

You have to understand the load that searching through an entire site puts on the server. The more people and the more threads that a site has, the more load it requires. It has to have time to query the entire database and display the results.

x1000 This drives me FRIGGIN LOOPY! I wouldnt mind if it was just for searches, but I use the "new posts" button all day long and it gets really aggravating..

As for the new members thing. I was a mod on a Honda forum and we made it 50 posts to sell. It seemed to work pretty well because 50 posts is a LOT of spamming just to sell a part, whereas 25 seems feasible. Not only that, but 50 posts would give us a longer window of time to see if the user is actually contributing or if hes just spamming. If someone starts spamming and only has to rack up 25 posts, its a little easier to hide it. 50 makes it more noticeable, and I dont think 50 posts is the least bit unreasonable.

I like the idea of 50 posts and a month wait. You should have to be part of the community to be able to see stuff in our community.

Same goes for Ask the Law section IMO.

im not on many other forums and I understand what you mean, but even vwvortex (a VERY large forum), also know as fortitude, etc.. doesnt do this ( i checked lol) and also the same with other forums I have been on. This is the ONLY forum ive been on that does the 25 second wait, and its frustrating. lol. anyways.. enough of the OT rant..

I agree with Jasons post, people selling and asking the law questions here should be part of the community.

420sx 09-24-2010 03:33 PM

Most forums I frequent do at least 25 seconds of waiting.. most forums that use vbulletin anyway. Its nothing new to me, but its still annoying as hell lol.

DPancoast 09-27-2010 11:12 PM

there are forums that make you become a member (paid) before you can sell lol.

another board im on is 30 posts, and so that you can't spam your way to 30 it also requires 30 days.
