Have a gun? Responsible gun owner? Want a chance to shoot? TST shooting meet!

Enough is enough.

It seems as though there is a great group of gun owners here who are all itching to get together for an old fashioned group shoot. Only problem is that no one wants to take on the responsibility to actually put it together.

I'll be that guy

There is a free Publicly owned State Game lands range about 15 minutes from Cabelas. The location is being kept secret for a reason. Its a beautiful range in the woods with shade and plenty of parking.

Before you read any further, you can read the range rules here. If you have a problem with any of them, you are not welcome. Period.

http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/05...bchapJtoc.html

These rules apply to every SGL range. The range we will visit has one additional rule. NO SHOTGUNS. There is not a designated clay throwing range and thus no Scatter guns allowed.

That being said, vote for the day you would like to meet at Cabelas. If you've never been then this is a perfect opportunity for you to visit, pick up ammo, meet some forum members, and do some shooting.

If anyone is interested in a scenic drive on 61, up and over Hawk mountain and then finally arriving at the range we can also do that. Sort of a Cabelas/ Ammo/ Scenic drive/ shooting meet. Possibly ending at a local bar for some dinner even?

Don't have a gun? No problem. I'm willing to bet that there are plenty of forum members that would let you use one of theirs, provided you buy your own ammo at Cabelas. If no one else volunteers to let n00bs use their guns, I have everything from .22ls/ .22wmr, .25, .32, 9mm, and 7.62 x 39.

Let me be perfectly clear, there are no warnings on a shooting trip. Read the rules. If you have questions, ask them. We are all willing to help guys out who are new to shooting.

Im going to go ahead and say that you must have 200 posts here to even attend. If you have less, you need to have a respected forum member vouch for you.

This meet is in no way affiliated with TST and is not a official TST meet, simply a group of guys from TST who share the same hobby besides cars. I, nor any other member is responsible for your actions during this meet. I am simply a gun owner who is going to meet some new shooting buddies at Cabelas and go to the range from there.

That being said, vote for your day which you are free to meet and lets have some fun! Personally, I feel like 9/11 would be a great day.

Feel free to invite the ladies too! PERFECT excuse for us to all bring our girls out for a "Day trip to the Mountians".

If I forgot to mention anything please do not hesitate to add to or ask questions here.

Ill keep a running list of who plans to attend and update it as members confirm.

Here is the best picture I have of the range. Don't mind my girls pops on the AK.

does this SGL Range have a designated pistol range? if not, i won't be attending. the PA Game Commission does not allow handguns on ranges that don't have designated pistol ranges. also, you must shoot from a shooting station, you can't even walk up to the target. plus, it's pretty dumb to shoot at 50 or 100 yds with a 3.5" barrel. lol

i'm not a big fan of the 6 round magazine limits. while shooting i'm fine with that, but to remove 5 rounds from my gun before even getting out of the car is a little retarded.

yeah the mag limits and such are pretty dumb. There is another SGL range that I usually go to up by Jim Thorpe that has a 25 and 50 yrd pistol range and a 50 and 100 yrd rifle range. Only problem is it gets crowded sometimes.

Hopefully the one Drftpretty posted has a pistol range. But even if it doesn't, why be a party pooper? Come out and shoot some rifles and meet everyone. Besides, as I said, I just need to be satisfied you guys aren't wackjobs and I'll feel confident in bringing you over to my buddy's farm some wknd. We just need some more exploding targets. :supz:

yeah i guess you're right. i'll still go anyway, i just really hope it has a pistol range because that's my thing, i don't even own any rifles that i would want to take out and shoot. lol.

I'm sure there will be plenty of cool rifles to shoot that others will bring. I'm sure my AR will want to tag along, and if cmr076 comes and even brings a fraction of his arsenal we'll all have plenty of cool stuff to shoot.

I'm definitely with ya though, I hope they have a pistol range.

rodder 08-19-2010 10:22 PM

bump becasue I want to know why the hell asian jul hasn't replied in here yet. She loves to bitch about how she never gets to the range but then ignores the group shoots. :-p

If that is the range that i think it is, and it is one of a recently closed(within a few years) clay and skeet course, then no, there is no designated pistol range. Only 100 and 50. Buuuut, i've heard there is no problems taking some political propaganda lawn signs up there, and setting them up as targets.

until the guys in green walk out of the woods and spend an hour coming up with a list of violations, and then fine you for every one.. gun related or not. those guys are assholes, through and through. i would definitely pack up and leave if someone starts shooting at signs or anything else.

i'm all for reactive targets, political or not, but on a SGL range that's just asking for trouble.

that looked kinda cool until I noticed they charge $29 just to use the pistol and rifle ranges.

Agreed.

I'm definitely in, but it needs to be level headed.

bench rest shooting only requires a trigger finger!

Xavier 08-20-2010 02:11 PM

Good thing my dominant hand is fine! I just wouldn't be able to chamber a round with my pistol.

? it's $15 for the day but if it's your first time there you need to pay a one time fee for a range safety badge for each section. so if you want to shoot rifle and pistol you pay the $15 range fee (and that's ALL day) and (2) $7 safety badge certs which is good for life. so yes, your first time will cost you $29. but every time you go after that it's just $15 and you can be there all day or until you run out of ammo :) and that pales in comparison to most indoor ranges that charge ~$15 PER HOUR such as Classic Pistol. and that is a nice thing to not feel rushed when your reloading looking at your watch wondering how long (and $$$) your taking up the lane. which is nice when your reloading 30rnd AR and P90 mags ;)

rodder 08-24-2010 12:36 PM

bump!!!

we should pick a date based on the poll and get this thing officially set up.

Xavier 08-24-2010 12:41 PM

As far away as possible so I can have my cast off.
